    Alan leads our UK & Ireland Restructuring practice. He joined EY in 1985 and has more than 30 years’ experience working across the restructuring, accelerated M&A, advisory and insolvency arena in a number of industries advising stakeholders (boards, corporates, investors, lenders, trustees and regulators) on how best to protect, improve and recover value. Alan was an appointment taker in relation to, amongst others, Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust, Focus DIY, Dreams, Orchid Pub Group, Battersea Power Station, White Tower, Dunedin Industrious, DTZ plc, Navan Mining and Luminar nightclubs. He is a member of the editorial board of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals’ (R3) Recovery magazine and is a former member of R3’s Council.     Alan has been practising in the area of corporate restructuring and insolvency since 1979. He has led engagements relating to a broad range of sectors, dealing with corporates in various degrees of stress or distress as well as those in a formal insolvency procedure. He has acted as President of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3) and is currently President of the International Insolvency Institute (III).     Maggie is one of the most experienced restructuring professionals in the UK and international markets. She has worked in several industries, including Telecoms, Transportation, Property, Publishing, and Leisure, and has strong experience working in the Financial Services sector, particularly during crises over the last 25 years. Material insolvency cases include, British & Commonwealth Merchant Bank; Barings Bank; Metronet (London Underground’s maintenance company); Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander Plc and Heritable Bank (both subsidiaries of Icelandic Banks) as well as acting for the Bank of England during the financial crisis advising in relation to Northern Rock and Bradford & Bingley. Maggie acted for international lending organisations during the Asian crisis, in Thailand, Indonesia and South Korea, and for major corporates in those jurisdictions. More recently she has worked in several European jurisdictions on recapitalisation and resolution options for systemic banks (in Greece); on policy and operational considerations for the setting up of an asset management company to deal with NPLs (for a Central European central bank) and for creditors involved in recent bank resolutions across Europe. She has also worked with banks, insurers and regulators on recovery and resolution plans both in Europe and the Far East.
