Advisory Consultant Program (ACP): a unique opportunity for campus recruits

The ACP offers a unique developmental environment that combines hands-on multidisciplinary working assignments with structured learning, counseling and mentoring. A pooled resource foundation design provides exposure to a variety of projects and allows our professionals to build a broad knowledge and experience base.

The ACP offers three tracks for all candidates interested in EY Advisory opportunities:

  • Business Advisor Program (BAP): In the Business Advisor Program, you’ll help clients evaluate their business processes/functions, recommend areas for greater efficiency and assist in the measurement and management of financial and operational risk.
  • Technology Advisor Program (TAP): In the Technology Advisor Program, you’ll thrive at the intersection between business and technology, helping our clients understand how technology enables improved business performance through the evaluation, design and configuration of technology to support business transformation.
  • Risk Advisor Program (RAP): In the Risk Advisor Program, you’ll help clients evaluate, understand and manage risk and associated controls to improve their business and technology performance, protect against known risks, and understand the impact of emerging risk. Business Advisor Program

EY Advisory Services has an exciting opportunity for highly motivated staff consultants to join the Business Advisor Program (BAP). Staff professionals entering the BAP enjoy opportunities to serve diverse clients across multiple practices, while being provided training, experience and coaching to develop core consulting skills.

Our BAP professionals help our clients evaluate their business processes / functions and recommend areas for greater efficiency in areas such as:

Finance — Help our clients transform their finance operating model, sharpen their finance and operational systems effectiveness, design and implement financial and enterprise cost management systems and manage outsourcing, offshoring and shared service center arrangements.

Customer — Help our clients focus on attracting, retaining and growing profitable customer relationships. We help our clients develop market and customer strategies, improve customer service management and develop and implement analytics to understand and anticipate customer needs.

Supply chain/Operational improvement — Help our clients with a variety of business process issues including functional, operational, and performance improvement for their core systems, operational strategy, business performance improvement, cost management/profitability enhancement and business integration.

Program and organizational change management — Help our clients manage their portfolios of business transformations while creating change architectures to guide their journeys, all while helping them maintain focus on achieving desired business outcomes.

Financial Services Risk Management — Those who join the FSO may also be deployed on engagements across our Financial Services Risk Management practices, where we assist our clients with the measurement, mitigation, management and monitoring of financial and operational risks. Areas of focus include: traded products and capital markets, credit and capital management, enterprise risk services, regulatory risk and compliance, quantitative advisory and derivative valuation.

Technology Advisor Program

EY Advisory Services has an exciting opportunity for highly motivated staff consultants to join the Technology Advisor Program (TAP). Our TAP professionals assist our clients in areas such as:

IT transformation — Help our clients simplify the IT environment for a growth agenda, align IT with business strategy, improve business value delivery with globally integrated IT services and translate complex business problems into implementable technology solutions. Areas of focus include infrastructure and operations, strategy and architecture, transformation and integration and performance technology such as cloud computing and digital.

Data and analytics — Help our clients manage the collection, storage, use and quality of data and use information intelligence to meet business needs across finance, risk and operations. Risk Advisor Program

EY Advisory Services has an exciting opportunity for highly motivated staff consultants to join the Risk Advisor Program (RAP). Staff professionals entering RAP enjoy opportunities to serve diverse clients across multiple practices and industries, while being provided training, experience and coaching to develop core consulting skills. The breadth and diversity of client experiences will vary based on the size of the local market.

We assist clients across a broad range of risk areas including compliance, financial, operational, IT and strategic risk. As a Risk Advisor, you’ll have a unique opportunity to get a holistic view of a client’s business, rather than a project-based glimpse into one aspect. As a part of the Risk team, you will help assess clients’ technology risk environments and identify controls to mitigate those risks, and evaluate and enhance clients’ internal audit and risk management functions. Those who join the FSO may be deployed on Risk Transformation engagements, where you will help clients develop strategies and methodologies to best manage their technology risk environment.

Our RAP professionals assist our clients in areas such as:

Risk Assurance — We help our clients assess their technology risk environment, including by external audit execution, internal audit support, and various assessment services (e.g., cybersecurity, data analytics). We work with our clients to understand the technology risks present within their environments and key controls designed to mitigate the risks. The nature of our work often includes control identification, determination of control testing adherence, and an impact analysis of any observations (including recommendations).

Internal Audit — Provide comprehensive risk services through a suite of strategic, outsourcing, and industry-focused operational recommendations that help our clients evaluate and enhance their internal audit and risk management functions. We plan, lead and perform internal audit, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), and risk advisory projects in accordance with the client's risk management strategy, resulting in the identification of control enhancements, operational and compliance process improvements and efficiency opportunities, as well as company-wide cost improvements.

Risk Transformation — We help our clients develop strategies and methodologies to best manage their technology risk environments, including their risk management programs, risk and control tool enablement, vendor risk management, and compliance with emerging regulations. We work with our clients to understand the current state and develop a future state model that includes improved risk assessment techniques and automation. In the FSO, Risk Transformation is served by our Risk Advisor Program; for non-FSO professionals, Risk Transformation is served by our Technology Advisor Program.

Audit is the cornerstone of our business

From a hiring perspective, it's helpful to understand that we predominantly hire into our Audit practice, which is the largest part of our Assurance practice. Beginning your career in EY Audit will provide you with:

You’ll combine strong, local compliance and accounting experience with EY’s next-generation global data management model, giving clients an integrated, consistent, quality service that unlocks the potential of your compliance function, with tax compliance, statutory accounts preparation and tax accounting calculation support.

Indirect Tax

EY - Indirect Tax

Indirect taxes, ranging from VAT and customs duties to environmental levies, affect a company’s entire supply chain and financial system. They pose unique challenges to multi-national tax functions, since they must be managed accurately and in real time. These often invisible taxes can have significant impacts — on cash flow, absolute costs and risk exposures. As part of our Indirect Tax team, you’ll advise clients on these and other cross-border issues. International Tax Services

Chief financial officers and tax directors of multinationals are operating in an environment of intense scrutiny and challenge. Transactions, inter-company pricing, supply chains, structuring and funding are increasingly under the spotlight. More than ever, executives are looking to align their global tax position with their overall business strategy, to be competitive and provide value to shareholders. In our International tax services you’ll help clients manage their business tax responsibilities including managing global tax risks and meeting cross-border reporting obligations. You'll help them manage global operational changes and transactions, capitalization and repatriation issues, transfer pricing and supply chain — from forward planning, through reporting, to maintaining effective relationships with the tax authorities.

Transaction Tax

Every transaction has tax implications, whether it’s an acquisition, disposal, carve outs, refinancing, restructuring or public offering. In our transaction tax service, you’ll help clients understand and plan for these implications, mitigating transaction risk, enhancing client opportunity within the deal and providing crucial negotiation insights. You will work with clients throughout the transaction life cycle, from initial due diligence through post-deal implementation, helping clients achieve their commercial and strategic objectives.

Human Capital

As part of the Human Capital team, you’ll assist clients with the design and implementation of total reward strategies to engage their people and drive the organization’s business strategy. You'll also help clients manage HR compliance and risk, HR and payroll transformation, as well as technology advisory services and project management. You'll work with clients to integrate the people agenda into clients’ business strategy, helping them improve their businesses in the evolving global economy and realize sustainable economic growth.

Diversified paths

EY offers a unique opportunity for you to learn about EY Tax while balancing both the breadth and depth of your experience. On a diversified path, you have the opportunity to spend time in various tax sub-service lines for either two or three years before making an educated choice about which area of tax best aligns with your skills and interests (provided it also aligns with our business needs).

The benefit for you is a broad base of tax experience and sector awareness that is extremely marketable, whether you stay at EY to partner or leave to pursue other opportunities. Focused paths

We do hire some candidates directly into one of our niche tax specialty areas. They seek candidates with a specific skill set, and the nature of their day-to-day work means candidates hired into these niche areas benefit from receiving specialized and focused training and experiences as opposed to receiving a broader, diversified background. Learning and experience requirements are different for each focused path and roles require different types of certifications (for example, HR certification). Using both historical data and predictive and social media analytics, you’ll help companies focus on deal drivers that pose the most investment risk or opportunity for return. Transaction Tax

How will you help clients?

Combining both cross-border experience with local tax knowledge, you’ll guide clients to make informed decisions and navigate the tax implications of their transaction. This will allow them to limit transaction risk, enhance opportunity and provide crucial negotiation insights.

What you will do?

You'll advise companies and private equity investors on all tax aspects of their transactions across a wide range of industries and geographies. You'll also work alongside restructuring colleagues to advise companies in financial difficulties, including those in formal insolvency proceedings, on sales of non-core businesses to restore their balance sheets.

To qualify for a position in Transaction Tax, you must be pursuing an LLM or JD with an undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.

Transaction Tax has two distinct focus areas:

Transaction Tax

Transaction Tax comprises professional advisors who help our clients understand and plan for the tax implications of an acquisition, disposal, refinancing, restructuring or initial public offering. By combining diverse cross-border transaction experience with local tax knowledge across a broad spectrum of industry sectors, we help clients make informed decisions and navigate the tax implications of large transactions. Our integrated approach means clients gain access to high-quality, globally coordinated tax advice, wherever a transaction occurs, helping improve the return on their investment.

As a member of the Transaction Tax team, you will be exposed to the transaction process in its entirety and work closely with the other TAS service offerings (transaction integration, transaction support (financial due diligence) and valuation) to deliver high quality tax consulting services to our clients. Team members are given the opportunity to learn valuable client-serving skills and gain a broader understanding of the transactions marketplace, working closely with the client and its other service providers (e.g., law firms, investment bankers).

Transaction Tax: National M&A

The Mergers & Acquisitions group of Ernst & Young LLP in Washington, D.C. (National M&A Tax) provides tax consulting services to high-profile, national and multinational clients. It is led by several nationally recognized tax professionals who represent some of the firm's most senior tax consultants. These professionals are among the country's top tax practitioners, and many of them have held policy-making positions at the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The combination of knowledge, government experience, and transactional work forms the basis for helping clients evaluate increasingly complex tax laws and implement intricate M&A transactions.

As a member of the National M&A Tax team, you’ll work directly with client and firm professionals, to perform tax technical research and analysis as part of the client service team in multiple client engagements. You will also deliver tax advice to the firm’s M&A clients and other tax professionals located in various Ernst & Young LLP offices.
