Today Ernst & Young LLP’s Las Vegas office celebrates its 10th anniversary. Since its opening here in 2003, it has become the nation’s largest fully integrated gaming and hospitality practice, leading the Big Four professional services organizations in auditing 68 percent of U.S. public company gaming operators in Las Vegas. In recognition of the office’s anniversary, Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman declared Nov. 4, 2013 “EY Day” in the city.

The firm’s Las Vegas location serves gaming and hospitality, real estate, airlines, media & entertainment, and technology clients, and has served all of the Fortune 1000 companies based in Las Vegas. EY also is Southern Nevada’s leading provider of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) services and has contributed to the greening of more than $10 billion in Las Vegas real estate developments.

“EY is proud and humbled to be recognized by the City of Las Vegas for this milestone,” said Tom Roche, the EY Global Director of Gaming Services and Managing Partner of Ernst & Young LLP’s Las Vegas office. “By focusing on providing exceptional client service, our team has seen great success and growth.”

Roche has more than 25 years of experience in the gaming industry. As a past member of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, he advised both domestic and international governments as they adopted new casino legislation. He also is actively involved in The Greater Las Vegas After-School All-Stars which provides after school programs for children in at-risk schools.

In addition, Roche noted that the firm’s 70 people in the Las Vegas office have contributed more than 2,000 skills-based volunteer hours to local nonprofits during the past 10 years by mentoring youth, teaching financial literacy programs and providing other pro-bono services.

“Our commitment to building a better working world for our people, our clients and our communities is something we really take to heart,” Roche added.

EY recently was ranked the world’s most attractive professional services employer – and second most attractive employer overall – in Universum’s annual World’s Most Attractive Employer ranking.

“Students know that we offer exceptional and diverse experiences for all our people, which is one reason Ernst & Young LLP also is the firm of choice among UNLV students,” said Las Vegas Tax Partner Ed Koijane.
