EY announces winners for the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2014 Central Midwest Award

Exemplary entrepreneurs were honored at program’s gala event

EY today announced the winners of the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Award in the Central Midwest. This group of leading entrepreneurs was selected by an independent judging panel made up of previous winners of the award, leading CEOs, private capital investors and other regional business leaders. The winners were revealed at a black-tie gala on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Sheraton Overland Park Hotel in Overland Park, Kansas.

“EY has honored outstanding entrepreneurs for the past 28 years,” said Mike Hickenbotham, EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Program Director for the Central Midwest. “These business leaders are accomplished entrepreneurs who have contributed a tremendous amount to the community.”

The Entrepreneur Of The Year 2014 Central Midwest Award winners are:

  • John Pantanella, President and CEO, Chemline, Inc. (Saint Louis, Missouri)
  • Byron Thompson, Chairman of the Board, Country Club Bank (Kansas City, Missouri)
  • Bob O’Loughlin, CEO, Lodging Hospitality Management (Saint Louis, Missouri)
  • Dan Schuppan, President, MBS Textbook Exchange, Inc. (Columbia, Missouri)
  • Alaina Macia, President and CEO, MTM, Inc. (Lake Saint Louis, Missouri)
  • Smitty Belcher, CEO, P1 Group, Inc. (Lenexa, Kansas)
  • David Payne, President, PayneCrest Electric, Inc. (Saint Louis, Missouri)
  • Cris Burnam, President, StorageMart (Columbia, Missouri)

In addition to the category winners listed above, Saint Louis-based Anthony Sansone, Sr., CEO and Chairman of the Board of Sansone Group, was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award. He was recognized as an industry leader and for his extraordinary entrepreneurial achievements, leadership and vision as he established the Sansone Group nearly 60 years ago, growing the business into a nationally recognized commercial real estate firm, with four of his 8 children currently involved in the business.

The Entrepreneur Of The Year Program honors entrepreneurs regionally in June, leading up to the national awards in November. The Entrepreneur Of The Year National Overall Award winner then moves on to compete for the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year Award.

Now in its 28th year, the program has expanded to recognize business leaders in more than 145 cities in more than 60 countries throughout the world.

Regional award winners are eligible for consideration for the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year National Program. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year National Overall Award winner, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, California, on November 15, 2014. The awards are the culminating event of the EY Strategic Growth Forum®, the nation’s most prestigious gathering of high-growth, market-leading companies.
