Mark Belfance leads expanding office with strong commitment to local community and firm

Ernst & Young LLP has announced the appointment of Mark Belfance to Managing Partner of its Denver office.

Mark succeeds Scott Hefner, who after more than a decade of service is transitioning into a new role as the firm’s Southwest Region Accounts and Markets Managing Partner. Scott will also remain the Technology, Media & Telecom leader for the Southwest Region and continue to reside in Colorado.

“Under Scott we have seen tremendous growth in the Colorado market – more than doubling the size of our office in the past five years alone and expanding the level and scope of service provided to our clients,” said Randy Cain, Ernst & Young LLP Vice Chair and Managing Partner for the Southwest Region. “Mark is well-positioned to lead our Denver office into a new era of continued expansion. With his in-depth knowledge of the Colorado business environment, longstanding commitment to the firm and his vision and passion for developing our people, Mark is a natural choice to step into this critical role.”

Mark has more than 27 years of experience with the firm, including 11 years in the Denver office. As an Assurance Partner, he has an exceptional track record serving some of the firm’s largest health sector accounts, including extensive background with large health systems, health insurers, academic medical centers, pharma, medical device and private equity-backed health organizations. He is also the executive sponsor of diversity and inclusiveness efforts in the Denver office.

“With 525 local employees—and growing—I am excited about the opportunity to lead our people to continued success throughout Colorado,” Belfance said. “As we pursue our purpose of building a better working world, we will continue to make exceptional client service our first priority, along with maintaining our strong culture of developing people and their opportunities for success and seeking new ways to support the businesses and communities we serve.”

In addition to his leadership at the firm, Mark is actively involved in the Colorado community serving on the board as Treasurer of the Brain Injury Alliance of Colorado and as a member of the United Way Tocqueville Society. Mark received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Lehigh University, and is a certified public accountant in the state of Colorado.
