Ernst & Young LLP ranks No. 1 in accounting and No. 4 in business on the US Universum Undergrad Overall IDEAL™ Employer Survey
New York, 25 March 2014
Firm’s recognition is fueled by double-digit growth in US campus recruiting plans and the expansion of initiatives that aim to develop the next generation of talent
Today Universum announced that accounting students ranked Ernst & Young LLP No. 1 in accounting for the seventh consecutive year and business students ranked the firm No. 4 in business on its US Universum Undergrad Overall IDEAL™ Employer Survey. More than 46,000 students at over 400 leading universities participated in the 2014 survey, responding to questions about their career expectations and how they perceive organizations as employers. This again marks the firm’s leadership among the Big Four professional services firms in the US in both categories.
Highlighting the growth that is helping to drive this continued recognition, Ernst & Young LLP has also announced today that it plans to recruit 7,200 students from US campuses in fiscal year 2014 (FY14) ending June 30, up from 6,000 students last year. In the Americas area, which includes North America, South America and Israel, EY member firms plan to recruit 9,700 students in FY14, up from 9,100 in the prior year.
“We’re anticipating nearly a 20% increase in our US campus recruiting plans alone, primarily due to growth in our assurance and advisory services and the momentum in other areas of our business,” said Dan Black, Director of Recruiting for Ernst & Young LLP, as well as EY Americas Director of Recruiting. “This recognition from Universum and thousands of college students underscores our commitment to attracting, retaining and developing the types of leaders who will support our significant growth and ambitions for our firm.”
On May 7, Nancy Altobello, EY Americas Vice Chair, Talent, will speak at Universum’s 2014 Employer Branding Conference. She will share further insights about how students are responding to EY’s purpose-driven brand and the organization’s latest efforts to offer them meaningful career experiences and development opportunities.
Complementing this recognition from Universum, the global EY organization was recently named the winner of the Best Employer Brand category for the 2014 ERE Recruiting Excellence Awards. Among other efforts that have enhanced EY’s brand and culture, the organization was recognized for launching a new global strategy, brand name, logo, tagline and brand proposition: “Whenever you join, however long you stay, the exceptional EY experience lasts a lifetime.” Learn more here.

Firm launches new initiatives and enhances signature recruiting programs for young professionals
Ernst & Young LLP and the global EY organization offer the following, all of which contribute to their leading reputation on campus for developing the next generation:
ExceptionalEY.com – EY’s newest digital property, exceptionalEY.com, brings the exceptional EY experience to life through informative infographics, vivid photography, dozens of videos and more. The site offers recruits vignettes on EY’s culture, its global reach and opportunities, its career development framework and its corporate responsibility initiatives, including international corporate volunteerism programs. It also provides an interactive exercise that shows career paths by major and areas of interest so visitors can find the right role for themselves and picture themselves working at EY. Additionally, it supports the recruiting process by detailing what EY looks for in candidates and the opportunities offered. Since its launch just six months ago, nearly 200,000 people have visited the site.
Vision 2020 – In 2013, EY launched Vision 2020, which outlined the organization’s purpose, ambition and strategy. Through this process, EY’s purpose became clear — building a better working world. Every day, every EY person is part of building a better working world — for their clients, their communities and themselves. This includes students, which is why EY’s campus visits now include presentations on the power of a career with a strong purpose and meaning.
Global Student Experience Program – Launched in 2011, this EY internship program offers overseas assignments for high-performing summer interns. Participants start their internship in the US and spend four weeks abroad at another EY member firm location within the organization’s global network, before returning to the US to complete their experience. Participants include both US students going abroad and non-US students coming to the US.
In 2013, the program included almost 60 participants and 12 host countries (Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Israel, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Portugal, Romania, UK and the US). For 2014, the program will grow to approximately 80 participants and 15 host countries, including new hosts Colombia, Italy and the Netherlands.
Emerging Leaders Summit (ELS) – This two-and-a-half day summit will be held June 18-20, 2014, in the Washington, D.C. area, convening 250 students from across the Americas for presentations and breakout sessions on a variety of topics and interactive case studies. The conference is hosted for students in their sophomore to senior years who have demonstrated leadership potential both academically and personally. Carmine DiSibio, the EY Global Managing Partner of Client Service, is scheduled to speak, in addition to other senior leaders.
International Intern Leadership Conference – Ernst & Young LLP will host its signature International Intern Leadership Conference for the 18th consecutive year July 29-Aug. 1, 2014, in Orlando. This year the firm expects 2,800 interns to participate from 25 different countries, up from 2,300 students last year. Interns participate in classroom learning and team building experiential learning activities.
New Horizons Program – The New Horizons Program is a three-month international exchange opportunity for professionals early in their careers. Its goal is to empower junior professionals to experience geographic mobility early in their careers. The Americas program links people so that they can team internationally on high-profile clients.
The number of participants has more than doubled since the program's inception in 2011. Starting this summer, 54 participants are relocating to EY firms in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Israel, Mexico, Paraguay or the US.
