 Johanna Mukoki Johanna Mukoki - Travel with Flair

Johanna Mukoki is a B.Comm graduate from Rhodes University where, as a result of her high academic performance she was selected to tutor Accounting 1.  She went on from Rhodes to do her articles as an accountant at KPMG (Aiken & Peat). 

She is also the Managing Director and shareholder of Travel with flair, which is a travel management company with branches in Pretoria, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Kwa-Zulu Natal and 19 in-houses to date. She started the company 16 (fifteen) years ago with her partners Robert Wilke and Tibor Zsadanyi and have a staff complement of 550 around the country.

Travel with Flair was voted the Best Travel Agency for 2007 for its service Excellence and remarkable growth.

She is the first person from the African Continent to be appointed on the Global Tourism Board (ACTE) - Association of corporate travel executives representing Africa and the Middle East, the youngest on this board.

Bryan Hirsch Bryan Hirsch - Bryan Hirsch Colley & Associated BHCA

Bryan has been in the financial services industry for 48 years.  He consults with individuals on estate, tax, investment and retirement planning.  On the corporate side he advises companies on retirement funds as well as healthcare. 
Bryan is a financial commentator and has written regular weekly columns for Business Day and Sowetan as well as articles for various financial publications including Entrepreneur magazine. He appears on Radio SAFM every Tuesday morning and has his own Summit TV program “You & Your Money” every Monday evening.  In addition, he regularly appears on SABC3, CNN and eTV.
Bryan also lectures at Family Life Centre educating mediators on the Financial Implications of Divorce.
Bryans second book “Steps to Financial Freedom” was released in May 2011.  He completed and published his first book “Bryan Hirsch’s guide to Personal Finance” a few years ago.  Both books are a comprehensive guide to sound financial planning.

Khudu Pitje Khudu Pitje - New GX Capital Holdings

Khudusela Pitje, Khudu, is an Executive Director at Community Investment Ventures. His executive responsibilities at the firm include deal sourcing and negotiation, fund-raising, and ongoing management of portfolio companies.

In 2002, he founded Abacus Financial Services and facilitated the support of the Department of Housing as well as joining JPMorgan SA and was later seconded to the London office for two years. During his stay at JPMorgan, Mr. Pitje was involved in some high profile transactions and his primary focus was on telecommunications.In 2006, Mr. Pitje co-founded NewGx Capital with Dr. Eugene Mokeyane and invested in CI Ventures.

In 2009 he was honoured as a finalist in the Ernst & Young World entrepreneur awards in the “Emerging Entrepreneur Category”.

Braam van Huyssteen Braam van Huyssteen - Tekkie Town

Braam , with his roots deep in the retail industry due to growing up with his mother owning a fashion retail shop,  ventured into  the industry that he has a passion and great understanding for.  He opened his first clothing store in Mossel Bay in 1989 at a time that the town already had two highly successful outfitters.  Few people believed that Braam could unseat these family businesses, but with an attitude of “every problem represents an opportunity”, he was determined to make the business a success.

Not only did he succeed in this, but today with 21 years of retail experience, Tekkie Town has grown into a significant national chain with a core leadership of four people that remain the collective spearhead of the company.

Tekkie Town was built on the power of the African consumer. With the company focused intensely on this area, the business has seen significant growth and industry domination.

Dave Cooke Dave Cooke - ACTIS

Dave is a Director at Actis, a pan Emerging Markets Private Equity fund with US$5bn under management. David is based in Actis' Johannesburg office with responsibility for investments in the Consumers sector in Africa. 

David's Board seats have included RTT Group, a logistics business in South Africa and Vlisco Group, a pan Africa fashion business.

Prior to joining Actis, David gained private equity experience at Bridgepoint and Ernst & Young in London.

David holds an Honours degree in Environmental Science from the University of Cape Town and a PDM in Business Administration from the Wits Business School. He is a CFA charterholder.

Marko Saravanja Marko Saravanja - Regenesys

Marko has over 15 years of experience in management and leadership development, education and training. Marko was a monk when he came to South Africa in 1991. 

Between 1996 – 1998, he worked at Wits University as a programme manager and lecturer. In 1999, Marko started Regenesys together with Penny Law. He was the CEO of Regenesys up until 2009. Since then he has been Chairperson of the Board of Directors.

He has a Master of Management degree from Wits University and PhD in Performance Management from the University of the Western Cape. Marko has published a book called Secrets of Success.

Marko has to a large extent driven the vision of Regenesys and developed the strategies and systems that have grown Regenesys from its infancy to presently making a positive impact in leadership and education management training and development in South Africa, and soon globally.

Hlengiwe Makhathini Hlengiwe Makhathini - National Empowerment Fund

Hlengiwe  is a qualified Chartered Accountant. She worked in various divisions at Investec Bank Limited as part of her articles but spent most of her time in Internal Audit, Finance and Treasury.

After completing her articles, Ms Makhathini joined Standard Bank Retail Division as a management accountant for the Business Operations Division.

Ms Makhathini is currently a divisional executive: Venture Capital and Corporate Finance at the National Empowerment Fund (NEF), a position she was appointed to on 1 April 2011. She joined the NEF in October 2005 as an Investment Associate where she was involved in funding various black businesses and entrepreneurs.

 In 2006 Ms Makhathini was appointed to head the Pre Investment Unit which was a new department. She ran this department successfully and in 2009 she was appointed to head the uMnotho Fund which currently has a portfolio of close to R2 billion.

Ivan Epstein Ivan Epstein - Sage

Ivan is Chief Executive Officer of Sage AAMEA (Africa, Australia, Middle East & Asia). Sage is a global software company headquartered in the United Kingdom with offices in 24 countries and 120 cities. With a market capitalisation in excess of GBP 4 billion, it is one of the world's largest suppliers of business software to small and medium businesses, serving 6.1 million customers worldwide.

Ivan has been responsible for leading Sage in defining its vision and strategy for the future, and has played a central role in identifying growth opportunities in both the local and international markets.

Ivan was recognised for his entrepreneurial success and in 1999/2000 was presented with the Ernst & Young “South Africa’s Best Entrepreneur Award”. Ivan has served as a panel judge and chair of the panel since 2001.

Willem Roos Willem Roos - OUTsurance

In March 1997 Willem joined a project team funded by RMB Holdings to set up a direct short-term insurer.
OUTsurance was founded in February 1998, where Willem headed up the Underwriting Department. During May 2001, Willem was appointed Joint Managing Director of OUTsurance. 

In November 2009, Willem, together with Howard Aron, won the South African leg of the Ernst & Young World Best Entrepreneur Competition. 

Willem is a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.

Monhla Hlahla Monhla Hlahla - Praxley Corporate Solutions

Monhla holds a BA (Honours) from Pomona College, where she majored in economics, and an MA in Urban Planning from the UCLA School of Architecture and Planning, both Institutions are in the United States of America.

Monhla completed her ternure as CEO of Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) in September 2011, where she served since 2001.  She is currently Chairman to both the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) and Royal Bafokeng Holdings (RBH).

Monhla’s career has been largely in the infrastructure development (planning to management) and financing sectors, starting with her tenure at the Development Bank of Southern Africa where she worked as project manager in bulk infrastructure, and served in other roles including her secondment as CEO to establish the Municipal Infrastructure Investment Unit (“MIIU”).

Rob Stead Rob Stead - South African Institute for Entrepreneurship

MDr Robin Stead is the CEO of the South African Institute for Entrepreneurship and Founder and MD, SkillWise (Pty) Ltd
Rob is passionate about creating innovative tools and technologies to change mindsets and equip aspiring young entrepreneurs to become the change makers of the future. He has pioneered the use of technology-based learning to put young people in charge of their own development and develop a belief in their own potential.
He has proven the viability of entrepreneur-owned rural Computer Training centres and is in the process of establishing a network of 35 self-sustaining centres in townships throughout South Africa.


Paul Nkuna Paul Nkuna - Peermont

Nkuna served as treasurer general of the National Union of Mineworkers for 10 years, and then as deputy chief executive officer of Mineworkers Investment Company, since 2000. He retired in 2012.

Since 1984, he was involved with the trade union movement and served as vice-president of the Federation of Mineworkers on the African continent.

His 19-year career in the mining industry began in 1977, following his early days as a teacher.

He also served as non-executive chairman of Mathomo Limited, as well as the chairman of Mathomo Group Ltd,  chairman of the board at Peermont Global (Proprietary) Limited,  non-executive chairman of Metrofile (Pty) Ltd

He was chairman of the Nimble Group (Proprietary) Limited, chairman of the board of the Mineworkers Investment Company from 1997 to 2000, the deputy chairman and vice-chairman of Optimum Coal Holdings Limited, and the list goes on and on.
