EY recognised as the #1 Top Employer in Africa
Johannesburg, 13 October, 2017. EY has been announced as a Top Employer, for a twelfth consecutive year, receiving the following accolades:
- EY is certified as Top Employer in 2018 in South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, and Zimbabwe, gaining the Top Employer Africa certification
- EY is ranked #1 in both Nigeria and Kenya
- In South Africa, EY is ranked the #2 Top Employer across the country
Ajen Sita Africa CEO at EY says: “It is an honour to once again be recognised by the Top Employers Institute. The Top Employer certification speaks to our commitment to creating a leading people culture, where all our people are supported to achieve their professional and personal aspirations. These are the people who come together to form the highest performing teams, enabling EY to provide exceptional services to our clients and make a positive impact in our communities.”
At the heart of EY’s commitment to developing our people, is our employer value proposition (EVP) that: “Whenever you join, however long you stay, the exceptional EY experience lasts a lifetime.”
It is this commitment that drives us to constantly innovate and develop our programmes and initiatives to ensure our people’s growth. EY recently launched a number of new innovative global talent programmes, designed to prepare its work force and its business for the future of work. The programmes include:
LEAD, real time, quality career conversations
In order to develop our people’s careers, we are enabling immediate, real-time feedback and ongoing conversations on their development. As such, we recently launched LEAD, our transformed approach to performance management. LEAD is focused on frequent conversations that drive career discussions and personal development rather than retrospective reviews. A key feature of LEAD is that our employees can receive feedback on their work, anywhere in the world via mobile enabled technology.
How are we recruiting for the future?
Preparing for the future of work and ensuring that our people reach their potential, while helping our clients fulfil theirs, means always sharpening our recruitment processes. It is with that in mind that EY is advancing its recruitment approach, bringing in new sources of talent with a particular focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics students.
EY Badges and digital skills
In order to maintain the highest performing team culture and to adapt to a rapidly changing world, EY will also be introducing EY Badges later this year. The badges, will enable our people to earn digital credentials in skills such as information strategy, artificial intelligence, data analytics and data transformation.
To earn their EY Badges, our people will make a contribution to broader society through activities such as presenting to clients, coaching colleagues and writing articles thought leadership that educates others about a skill they have acquired.
As a global workforce, diversity and inclusion play a big role in our people culture. We embrace our peoples’ differences, in terms of their gender, race, ethnicity, disabilities, sexual orientation, identity, leadership styles and many more. These differences are what gives us an edge over our competitors. In embracing the differences of our people, we also enable a flexible working culture, providing our people the opportunity to work from anywhere at any time.
“A special thanks to everyone at EY, for sharing our commitment to creating a better working world and working towards it every day. Every year that we are included in the Top Employers ranking, is an affirmation of your hard work and that that we are moving in the right direction, in terms of your development, and by extension, that of our business and clients,” concludes Sita.
