A commitment to diversity and inclusiveness

Talk to anyone at EY and they’ll tell you it’s a rewarding place to work in so many ways. We attract high-performing individuals from different backgrounds and experiences who – like you – bring a unique point of view and business skills. Diversity of thought is what drives EY’s innovative approach to our people and our clients’ ever changing needs.

We’re created an inclusive work environment where everyone’s opinion is listened to and valued. You’ll learn about our shared values, how to work in teams effectively, how to work with individuals who are different from you, and how to bring out the best in yourself and others. And that means you can be yourself here.

Flexibility, choice and rewards

You’ll be encouraged to take ownership of your career, and given more opportunities to move into new areas, geographies or disciplines – if you want to. Your performance will be rewarded and recognised, so you are motivated to move quickly along your chosen career path.

People with disability

EY embraces diversity and encourages applications from people with disability. We are committed to making reasonable adjustments to provide a positive, barrier-free recruitment process and supportive work environment.

If you would like to talk to us about accessibility or reasonable adjustment at EY, please email contactrecruitment@au.ey.com our recruitment team. We will work with you to identify the best way to assist you.

Embracing the diversity that helps us grow

Diverse viewpoints produce better answers. That’s why EY embraces the increased diversity that is such a feature of the modern global workforce.

You'll find that EY is a place where respect, integrity and teamwork define the way we work.

You'll be encouraged to think in global terms, build strong relationships and embrace diversity in all its forms.

By valuing the differences in those you work alongside you'll find that you improve your perspective, benefit from diversity of thought and, ultimately, provide better answers for your clients and communities, while being supported and developed in a personal and unique way.

At EY, our goal is to provide an environment where individual differences are celebrated – where our people are supported to shape their career, while meeting the ever-changing needs of our clients.

Diversity and inclusiveness is not only a social responsibility, it's a business imperative.  Diversity drives innovation, promoting creativity and more innovative solutions to problems. We acknowledge that nurturing diversity is essential to our future success: our people deserve it, our clients demand it and our society expects it.

Our Diversity Council, comprising 11 Partners and Executive Directors from various cultural and professional backgrounds, has been established to act as a think tank, providing the Oceania Executive with timely, independent and strategic advice on matters relating to the direction and implementation of our Diversity and Inclusiveness agenda.

This agenda encompasses the issues of gender equity, ethnic diversity and working flexibly and, even though our leaders are held accountable for reaching our goals and targets, we recognise that each of us has an important role to play in ensuring that we succeed.

Our Diversity and Inclusiveness agenda is driven from the top, receiving the support and personal endorsement of our most senior and influential leaders.

Counselling@EY – Developing our people’s potential

Counselling@EY – Developing our people’s potential

Tony Johnson, Regional Managing Partner and CEO discusses with Sarah Lowe, Financial Services Partner Australia, how building strong counselling relationships can empower and develop your career.

EY - Rebecca Smith“Just four weeks after the arrival of my second daughter, while I was on maternity leave, I heard of a fantastic opportunity to move to Sydney from London to set up a new TAS (OTS IT) team.  My counsellor, in the UK, knowing my career aspirations to live and work in Australia, did everything she could to support me. This support combined with the support of my new Counsellor in Sydney, helped me to overcome a number of hurdles (maternity leave policies, moving with a young family and management of stakeholders). It demonstrated to me that you can achieve your goals, if you put the individual effort in and have the necessary counsellor support.  Their support made the 'world' of difference to me.” – Rebecca, Transactions, Sydney

EY - Saurav Kataria“I have an exceptional counsellor who spends the time and takes the responsibility of assisting me in my career. He makes time to listen and really understand the motivation drivers for his counselees. This enables him to provide appropriate advice and is inspirational in the process. He goes out of his way to makes things happen and leverages his contacts to help his team and his counselees grow.” – Saurav, Advisory, Brisbane

We’ll involve you in our business – and in the wider community

By being a part of EY you’ll have the satisfaction of feeling part of something big. You’ll feel like you are making a genuine difference to clients, communities and the world in general.

Our commitment to engaging you in what we do will add to your enthusiasm for your work, your colleagues and our organisation. We also want you to feel confident that you have the support you need to achieve your professional and personal aspirations.

It’s not just about the name on your CV. You’ll gain confidence from having the support you need to achieve your professional and personal aspirations.

We do this through:

  • Communities: from our Corporate Responsibility work to our Alumni network we give you more opportunities to get involved with local communities and form enduring bonds with your peers.
  • Conversations: we’ll listen to you and engage in open and authentic dialogue at every level of our organisation.
  • Choices: we believe that people perform best when they feel connected and empowered to make their own choices within an organization. EY has earned a reputation for having a culture that enables people to meet both their personal and professional goals. More than work/life balance, our efforts to create a supportive culture have grown to focus on workplace flexibility: helping our people navigate where, when, and how their work gets done.
  • Celebration: your performance will be rewarded and recognized, to support and motivate you as you move along your chosen career path.

We can make a difference

If you join EY, you’ll feel welcome from your first day until long after you leave. But there are lots of opportunities to enhance your sense of belonging here.

Corporate Responsibility provides the chance to give something back to the local and wider community, while our Alumni network provides you with networking opportunities among your peers.

Corporate responsibility

Careers You’ve found the right place if you want to make a difference outside of your professional role. Our approach to corporate responsibility coordinates volunteering activities — in education, entrepreneurship and environmental sustainability — in a way that makes real use of your unique skills and capabilities. That way you can have a far greater personal impact.

Community engagement is also a key part of our global career development framework.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop in new and different contexts. You might be improving your public speaking, sharpening your negotiating skills or collaborating with people from a variety of backgrounds. But at the same time, you’ll be helping the community and building career-enhancing skills.

Careers However long you stay at EY, you’ll find your time here will do more than develop your skills and increase your experience. You’ll make connections and friendships that will prove invaluable throughout your career, supported by the vast EY alumni – an important network of successful professionals.

So however your career evolves, you’ll continue to benefit from your time with us, even if you leave. And if you do decide to pursue opportunities outside EY, we hope you’ll become one of the many people who rejoin.
