Thomas Sauber, the long-standing Head of the Zurich office and Legal Counsel of EY Switzerland, will retire at end of November 2016 and transfer his responsibilities to Roger Müller and Jvo Grundler as of 30 June 2016. His functions will therefore again be performed by two persons from 1 July onwards.

Zurich, 26 May 2016 – In 2011 and the following years, Dr. Thomas Sauber (59) made a significant contribution to EY’s successful relocation to the “platform” building, designed by architects Gigon/Guyer, in the Maag complex in Zurich. This site, located right next to the Prime Tower, offers facilities for around 1,500 workplaces and was designed specifically for the needs of both EY and its clients. Thomas Sauber has served as Legal Counsel for EY Switzerland since 2003, providing outstanding legal advice to executive management and the Board of Directors in numerous major issues related to both Swiss and cross-border projects. Since 2011, he has also served as Legal Counsel of the EY EMEIA Financial Services Organization, which comprises 14 countries.

Bruno Chiomento (53), CEO of EY Switzerland and designated President of the Board of Directors as of 1 July 2016, says, “This pooling of our resources at a central location has been a significant step forward for our firm. Not only has it strengthened our internal network, it has also enhanced the connection to our clients too, not least because of the direct link to the Hardbrücke train station. I would also like to thank Thomas Sauber for his outstanding services as Legal Counsel, be it in questions regarding the EY organization or on client-related issues.”

Roger Müller and Jvo Grundler to succeed Thomas Sauber
Roger Müller (40) will continue to perform his current function as Leader of Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) Switzerland. In this role, the experienced accountant has successfully enhanced the auditing services business by supporting clients regarding complex issues in the fields of financial processes, accounting, financial reporting and capital market transactions.

Dr. Jvo Grundler (50), Managing Partner Legal Switzerland, will likewise remain in his current client-related role. This will allow him to continue leveraging his more than 20 years of experience in legal advisory services, particularly regarding M&A transactions, as Legal Counsel as well.

Marcel Stalder (45), designated new CEO of EY Switzerland as of 1 July 2016, commented on the appointments, saying, “I look forward to working with these two proven and experienced experts who have demonstrated their profound knowledge of both our market and the EY organization. I am convinced they will make a significant contribution to the successful and client-oriented development of our firm.”
