The total area of Lebanon is 10,452 squared km with a population of about 5.8 million. The official language is Arabic but English and French are widely used. The local time is GMT+2 hours.
Lebanon’s economy is a typical open economy with a large banking sector. Liberalization of the Lebanese economy through the alleviation of trade and non-trade barriers and the potential launch of privatization of public utilities constitute promising developments in Lebanon.
EY and its predecessor firms have been operating in Lebanon since 1947, starting as Whinney Murray & Co to EY in 1989. Beirut office today consists of 150 employees, including 5 partners and 1 Executive Director.
