- Part of EY’s global ambition to build a world class strategy practice
After eight months of confidential discussions, EY is acquiring Port Jackson Partners as part of its global ambition to build a world class strategy consulting practice.
Port Jackson Partners will bring to EY deep, ideas-based, strategy capability and a world class reputation for strategy consulting at the highest levels of government, corporates and private equity.
Joining forces with EY provides Port Jackson Partners with access to global reach and resources and the opportunity to further extend its services to clients. Port Jackson Partners’ employees will receive unparalleled professional development opportunities, as well as access to EY’s global resources, industry experience and talent.
Port Jackson Partners will be rebranded as EY Port Jackson Partners. All thirteen of Port Jackson Partners’ principals and directors will join EY as partners, with all staff joining EY as employees, working in Sydney and serving clients around the world. The new team will form a key part of EY’s global strategy practice (EY Parthenon) that continues to grow, and now comprises over 5,000 people.
The acquisition is expected to be completed by June 2020.
EY Oceania CEO and Managing Partner, Tony Johnson said, “EY’s multi-disciplinary approach includes a strong commitment to building a global strategy practice, and the enormous talent, skills and experience the Port Jackson Partners team brings is integral to our achieving this.”
“It will help us provide additional value to our clients in the boardroom and at the C-Suite level by providing even greater strategic insights, along with the end to end services already offered by EY.
“We are delighted to be welcoming Port Jackson Partners talent and experience to the EY family, and we maintain the highest respect for their successful client service model. Together, we will be focused on doing the kind of work that we are great at – helping leaders to solve the toughest problems that are challenging corporates, governments and private equity,” Mr Johnson said.
Port Jackson Partners’ Managing Director Dr Byron Pirola said, “This enables us to realise our full potential. It is clear that our clients are now demanding broader, on-the-ground geographic reach and that we need to offer our people a broader career path with more opportunity to work internationally.”
“All of our partners voted in favour of joining EY. Over nearly 30 years, we have grown from two people in an office in Sydney to Australia’s most respected boutique strategy consulting firm. While we are proud of that achievement, we are ambitious beyond what we can now achieve alone,” he said.
“Over the years, we have fielded many offers to join other firms, but EY offers us a perfect match as we can continue to deliver our distinctive work for clients within a global network that reflects our own core values and culture.”
