Maria is the Country Managing Partner for EY Barbados and EY St. Lucia, and a Partner in the Tax practice. She has been with EY for over 16 years and has a wealth of experience providing tax advisory services for regional and multinational clients. Maria has in-depth knowledge of tax legislation in the Caribbean, particularly in Barbados and the OECS.
Maria is a regular speaker on taxation at conferences in Barbados, the wider Caribbean and Canada. She has authored many technical articles on taxation and tax planning using Barbados tax treaties.
She is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados (ICAB) and former Chairperson of the ICAB’s Tax Committee and the Barbados International Business Association’s Tax Committee. Maria holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the York University, Toronto, Canada, and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Nova Scotia, Canada.
