Maria is a Partner with our Tax practice, based in Barbados. She has been with EY for over 16 years and has a wealth of experience providing tax advisory services for regional and multinational clients. She previously led the Barbados and St. Lucia practices from 2014 to 2021 as Country Managing Partner. Maria has in-depth knowledge of tax legislation in the Caribbean, particularly in Barbados and the OECS.

Maria is a regular speaker on taxation at conferences in Barbados, the wider Caribbean and Canada. She has authored many technical articles on taxation and tax planning using Barbados tax treaties.

She is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados (ICAB) and former Chairperson of the ICAB’s Tax Committee and the Barbados International Business Association’s Tax Committee. Maria holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the York University, Toronto, Canada, and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Nova Scotia, Canada.
