EY advisor to AIP Management (merchant financing of 148.5 MW wind farm)

EY Corporate Finance advised AIP Management, a Danish investment manager investing into energy & infrastructure assets in Europe and the US, on the EUR 135m financing of the 148.5MW Matkussaari wind farm in Finland through an innovative and flexible debt instrument designed to finance fully merchant projects on a long-term basis.

This wind farm, located in the region of Ostrobothnia in Finland, will have a total expected production of c. 460 GWh per year and will offset the equivalent of 34,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide during each year of operation. Construction is expected to start in April 2022 with the project expected to reach commercial operation in January 2025. VALOREM, a French independent power producer, established in 1994, is the project developer, 100% equity owner and project manager during both construction and operations.

This is AIP Management’s first investment into the Finnish onshore wind market.
