    The Japan office advises on a vast range of issues, such as core growth strategies, value propositions, and competitive positioning.     In the midst of big changes in the business environment, EY-Parthenon provides advice and execution support, helping deliver value to clients on many significant business issues. As part of Strategy and Transactions, EY-Parthenon works with the other EY service lines — Assurance, Tax, and Advisory — to provide support from strategy creation to execution; for example, financial due diligence, tax advisory, integration/separation, restructuring, IT/digitalization, supply-chain optimization, procurement cost reduction, and indirect cost reduction. EY-Parthenon covers a wide range of industries globally, and in Japan, it focuses on services to:

    The work we do

    In the EY-Parthenon Japan office, we are focused on addressing the critical strategic decisions the c-suite and business leaders of our client organizations have to make.

    Examples of work we deliver for our clients include:

    • Development of growth strategies: In order to optimize capital growth as well as any M&A transaction, we help our clients through the selection of optimal local and/or global market entry opportunities, as well provide growth analysis and strategy support.
    • Market valuation: We provide research and evaluation support for new products and technology services, and strategic opportunities for new global market entry.
    • New market entry strategy: When clients are looking to deliver new products/services or enter a new global market, we assist in analyzing, supporting, and identifying the investment risks, valuations, and strategic opportunities.
    • Investment/business valuations and creation of successful business strategies: We help our clients in considering vital investment matters, evaluating potential values and prioritizing specific investment opportunities.
    • Evaluations of strategic options: Upon evaluating and analyzing strategic opportunities, develop and prioritize long-term strategic plans and options.
    • Supporting the optimization of business portfolios: Reorganize the client’s portfolio in order to attain growth and/or company objectives and assist in the sale of existing businesses/branches.
    • Strategy execution support: Actively advise on and help with implementation of new strategies by providing hands-on support in M&A value-ups, Post-Merger Integration (PMI), or corporate planning/business strategy.

    • What qualifications are you looking for among the candidates?

      We are looking for highly motivated people who are adept at original and creative thinking, as well as problem-solving. Ideal candidates are enthusiastic and talented people who combine excellent analytical skills with the ability to communicate clearly and succinctly.

      Qualifications we hope to see in a candidate include:

      In addition, for experienced hires, experience in consulting, in-house projects, or involvement as a member in the following areas is highly desirable:

      • Experience in M&A strategy, business development policy and reform, strategy projects related to overseas expansion, global strategy projects, (PMI), and/or project management
      • Experience in mid-term corporate planning within industrial companies, business planning, capital tie-up strategies, business development, technology strategy formulation, etc.
      • Experience in working in the investment department of a maker/industrial company
      • Experience in performing project evaluations related to business investments within an investment firm
      • Project management experience in PMI or business process re-engineering
    • Will I be expected to specialize in a specific sector?

      No. We aim to have our staff exposed to a wide variety of sectors and projects as much as possible, to maximize the learning opportunity. In later stages of your career at EY-Parthenon, you are expected to start specializing in specific sectors and/or project types.

    • What is the interview process at EY-Parthenon’s Japan office?

      We will contact only those candidates who are selected to interview. Whilst the recruitment process may vary depending on the position, our selection process typically involves resume screening, face-to-face interviews, case studies, and an aptitude test if you are a student or an experienced hire candidate with a few years of fulltime working experience.

    • I am living outside of Japan. Can I apply to EY-Parthenon’s Japan office?

      Yes. We welcome job applications from outside of Japan. If you are not physically in Tokyo, we can interview on Skype or over the phone. There are no major differences between a Skype and face-to-face interview.

    • Do you sponsor work visas?

      Yes. EY-Parthenon’s Japan office does sponsor work visas for fulltime employment and summer internship positions.

    Campus hires

    We run regular fulltime recruitment and summer internship programs for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as MBA students with fulltime working experience. Summer internships are mainly aimed at final year MBAs who are available for the four-week internship at our Tokyo office during the summer.
