Dr. Joseph DeSimone, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman, Carbon, Inc.
Dr. Joseph DeSimone is a prolific inventor, serial entrepreneur and eminent scholar. He has published over 370 scientific articles and has more than 200 issued patents in his name. Yet at the age of 50, Joseph was willing to take on a new challenge. He decided to leave an academic post, move to Silicon Valley and embark on a new venture. As Co-founder of Carbon, he set out to pave a new future for 3D printing.
In the seven years since, Joseph has grown the business into a global company that is a leader in 3D digital manufacturing. Innovation has driven Carbon’s growth, and the business has achieved unicorn status. Its breakthrough technology has overcome the limitations of conventional 3D printing by making it possible to digitally produce parts with unmatched quality and surface finish, and at volumes and speeds never before possible.
