Helene has more than 20 years of professional services experience of advising and supporting clients on a range of data science projects.
Currently, Helene leads a team of data scientists in developing emergency data models to support Ireland’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, leveraging her strong background in complex mathematical modelling and advanced data analytics. Over the last eighteen months, Helene played an instrumental role in Ireland’s Health Services Executive (HSE) response to navigating the various challenges derived from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Her role was to lead a team of highly skilled statisticians, data modellers, and data scientists in delivering advanced data analytics and complex modelling as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to enable swift and sound decision-making that would ultimately save the lives of thousands of Irish residents. This required not only an ability to deliver complex modelling and simulations in a fast-moving environment, but also to translate these models to insights and simplify the key messages coming from models.
Many of her projects involved designing and building automated processes for cleaning, transforming and integrating data from multiple sources as well as applying information governance standards. Models were rigorously tested and important insights carefully woven. Technologies regularly used in her work include simul8, Excel, VBA, R, Python, Alteryx, and Power BI.
