IFRS 16 Leases: Lessons from implementation


The course aims to:

  • Introduce how IFRS 16 has changed the accounting for leases
  • Give practical guidance on and resolve issues companies may face in relation to IFRS 16

  • This training course is addressed to those responsible for preparing and analysing financial statements under IFRS
  • It is intended for people who already have knowledge of international standards and need to update this knowledge, especially due to new or amended standards introduced in the last two years

Session Outline

IFRS 16 on leasing in which we will discuss the impact of the standard and the issues that have arisen on implementation:

  • the available exemptions for low value assets and leases of less than 12 months
  • the lease term,  the incremental borrowing rate
  • accounting by lessee and lessor
  • leasehold improvements and the right-of-use asset categorisation
  • the impact of COVID-19 rent concessions
