Attractiveness for Foreign Direct Investment

Join 1,000 CEOs, CFOs, entrepreneurs, investors, advisors, influential business and government leaders from Malta and all around the world, for a unique event designed to propel unchartered strategic thinking into meaningful action.

For the past two decades, EY has brought together great minds under one roof for Malta's largest investment and business conference. In 2022, the international landscape and rising geopolitical tensions are presenting formidable challenges for the island, its businesses, and citizens.

The residual effect of the pandemic and the start of the first conflict on European soil in the 21st century are having far-reaching consequences. With record inflation, impending recessions, the advancing threat of climate change, weakened global cooperation, and a shifting global tax environment, we are living through unprecedented times.

Against this backdrop, businesses will need to adapt their strategies to face the volatility ahead. Remaining resilient is key. EY-Parthenon’s Malta Future Realised Conference aims to usher in a new era by asking better questions that will lead us all to better answers.

Join us, on October 18th for the physical return of the flagship event on the Maltese economy! Registration and networking drinks will take place on the eve of the event.

What to expect

  1. High-profile international speakers, local and international government leaders, and industry CEOs
  2. Discussions on the economic outlook, FDI investment drivers, and business strategy
  3. Results and insights from the 18th edition of EY’s Malta Attractiveness Survey
  4. Networking expo and the exchange of ideas
  5. Thematic and sectoral workshops driving discussion

Top global speakers will deep-dive into Europe’s economic outlook, history, and the current geopolitical situation emanating from the Ukraine war. This will set the scene for discussions on how Malta can weather the current international storm, with a focus on investment and resilience.

The speaker line-up includes:

  • Hon. Robert Abela, Prime Minister of Malta
  • Hon. Bernard Grech, Leader of the Opposition
  • Roberta Metsola, European Parliament President
  • Jan Peter Balkenende, the three-time former Prime Minister of the Netherlands,
  • Krzysztof Bielecki, former Prime Minister of Poland and Chairman of EY Poland
  • Danilo Turk, the former President of Slovenia and UN Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs who is the current President of Club de Madrid, (the largest forum of former democratic presidents and prime ministers).

Keynote Speaker

Prof. Norman Davies - A keynote speech on the history of Europe will shine a spotlight on the current geopolitical challenges. Renowned author, broadcaster, commentator and traveller, Prof. Norman Davies, whose books Europe: A History, Europe East & West, Beneath Another Sky, and Vanished Kingdoms, among many others, make him an authority on all things Europe, will provide key insights on the current conflict, and thoughts on the outlook and role for Malta through the lenses of the past

“We are thrilled to be bringing back our Malta Future Realised Conference in-person. We will once again bring the biggest global companies and international institutions to provide their views, stimulate debate and generate ideas for a better, more sustainable and inclusive Malta.
The Malta Attractiveness Survey will be the basis of our discussions and local businesses will be able to comment on the transformations taking place. It is up to all of us to work together and make a difference.”
