Dato’ Calvin Khiu

Dato’ Calvin established the MK Curtain Group in 2005. The company supplies a wide range of home furnishing products such as curtains, bed-sheets, wallpaper, blinds and home decoration. In just nine years, Dato’ Calvin has grown the business from a single-shop operating in Nilai to a retail chain of 25 branches in Malaysia, equivalent to 100 stores, including a new 99,000 sq.ft. ‘Home Décor Retail Center’. Dato’ Calvin focuses on high customer satisfaction by sourcing original and quality materials, introducing creative designs manufactured by professional tailors and ensuring fast delivery. To promote entrepreneurship in his team, Dato’ Calvin introduced a profit sharing concept via a licensing programme for his staff.

In recognition of his success, Dato’ Calvin has received a number of awards including the Sin Chew Business Excellence Award 2014, the Golden Eagle Award 2014 and the JCI Top 10 Outstanding Young Malaysians Award 2013.

Dato’ Calvin Khiu was raised by his grandmother in humble surroundings. Growing up in a single-parent family, he worked odd jobs on a part-time basis. At the age of 13, he worked as a hawker in a night market and as a LPG delivery boy in his teens, defying all odds to be a millionaire. He lives by the motto, “If I can do it, everybody can do it”.
