From now till 16 July 2021, members of the public are invited to nominate outstanding Malaysian entrepreneurs for the 20th EY Entrepreneur Of The Year (EOY) Malaysia awards. This year, the EOY Malaysia programme marks a momentous milestone as it commemorates 20 years of seeking and honouring some of Malaysia’s most extraordinary entrepreneurial personalities and successes.

Participation in the EOY 2021 awards programme is open across four categories: Emerging, Technology, Woman and Master. An overall country winner will be chosen from among the four category winners, and the country winner will then go on to represent Malaysia at the prestigious EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year (WEOY) next year.

Nominees will be assessed by a panel of independent judges guided by a set of globally benchmarked criteria that include entrepreneurial spirit, value creation, strategic direction, national and global impact, innovation, and personal integrity/purpose-driven leadership.

In line with the theme, “The Unstoppables”, the EOY 2021 Malaysia programme seeks to recognize and celebrate our nation’s change-makers, their remarkable journeys and unbounded ambitions which deliver innovation, growth and prosperity that transform our world. These bold and visionary leaders transform blue-sky dreams into reality, contributing value and purpose beyond simple profits.

Philip Rao, Partner, Ernst & Young Advisory Services Sdn. Bhd. and Programme Director of the EOY Malaysia programme shares, “Entrepreneurship has always been at the forefront of jobs and wealth generation, economic progress and national development. In these turbulent times, entrepreneurs are needed now more than ever. Their vision, clarity of purpose, ingenuity and grit are crucial attributes in helping our economy and nation recover and build better. These undeterred trailblazers thrive on defying adversity and finding new solutions for a much brighter, sustainable future.”

Rao continues, “As we celebrate the 20th anniversary in Malaysia, the EOY programme has been tremendously privileged to have had the opportunity to shine a spotlight on some of our top entrepreneurs, to celebrate their persons and to share their stories on a national and international platform. The EOY programme hall of fame is nothing short of inspiring. Through the years, we have had the unique privilege of seeking out, recognizing and celebrating more than 200 remarkable men and women across generations and diverse industries and sectors. The prestige and reach of the programme has grown significantly from strength to strength, a testament to the high standards in the selection and judging criteria.”

“We are passionate in our pursuit to honour some of our best entrepreneurs and we are certain there are many more inspiring entrepreneurs whose journeys and stories should be told and celebrated. Help us do this by nominating them for our EOY Malaysia awards this year,” urges Rao.

The World Entrepreneur Of The Year (WEOY) Awards programme is the ultimate global competition for entrepreneurs. Besides enhancing the profile of entrepreneurs locally and internationally, the annual WEOY provides an incredible platform for some of the world’s best innovative thinkers, inspiring entrepreneurs, game changers and government leaders from more than 60 countries to gather, share and engage while building their global business network.

On 10 June 2021, Mr Kamarul A Muhamed, Founder and CEO of Aerodyne Group, the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2020 Malaysia, will represent Malaysia at the world event, which will be broadcasted live on

“The EOY Malaysia programme is a first step towards WEOY. Therefore, we strongly urge our Malaysian entrepreneurs, regardless of their business industry or size, to participate in the EOY Malaysia programme,” concludes Rao.
