Robert Rouwers assists international organizations with cross-border employment - in both the Netherlands and beyond. He assists both employers and their employees.
He studied Tax Law at the University of Leiden and completed a PhD in the subject “Taxation of non-residents by the Netherlands”. He has been working at EY since 1998 and is also a lecturer at, among others, the Foundation for Dutch Education Worldwide (NOB), the International Tax Centre, and Post-academic Education in Taxation.
“Cross-border work involves a lot of complications, relating to taxation, social security, work permits, employment policies, etc. But employment abroad is essential to international success. After all, employees need to settle in well abroad. We assist multinationals in particular with this.”
How Robert is building a better working world
“I really love my job. It’s complicated to find the right solution in different jurisdictions with different legal systems. I consider it to be an intellectual challenge. And there’s a personal element to it too - working abroad is life-changing. We help employees in this very special time of their lives.”
