As a UK&I Restructuring services partner at Ernst & Young LLP, Alan advises corporate and financial stakeholders on how to preserve value in financial and operational restructurings. He has led engagements relating to a broad range of sectors, dealing with corporates in various degrees of stress or distress as well as those in a formal insolvency procedure.

Alan joined EY in 1981 and has 40 years of experience in corporate restructuring and insolvency.

He has acted as President of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3) and is President of the International Insolvency Institute (III). Additionally, he served as the only practitioner on the UK government’s Department of Trade Industry and Treasury Working Party for the review of Insolvency and Company Rescue Mechanisms.

He has been involved in many landmark insolvency cases in the UK and internationally over the past 40 years.  He is a Chartered Accountant and Licensed Insolvency Practitioner.

He was instrumental in growing EY Restructuring, a team which helped to create legacies for some of the largest private and public sector organizations by saving thousands of jobs, recovering billions of pounds of capital for creditors to reinvest in their businesses and ensuring continuity of critical services in the UK.
