Jean-Marc joined EY in 2006 as Partner in Tax. He is leading the Indirect Tax practice within EY Romania. He is also leading the Indirect Tax practice in CESA (Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe & Central Asian).
He started his professional career in Belgium, in 1992. He has over 27 years of experience in indirect taxes of which over 20 years in a Big 4 environment.
He has been involved in several international assignments and has extensive experience in VAT advisory and compliance projects. Also, he has in-depth experience in indirect tax projects for big and multinational clients in various business sectors.
Jean-Marc has also focused on VAT advisory services and Belgian, Romanian and pan-European VAT structuring projects.
Furthermore, he was a project manager and subject matter expert for studies carried out for the European Commission, such as “Study on elements related to the charging of indirect taxes which are required by Member States to be included in invoices produced by electronic means or other means (XXI/98/317)”, “Study on simplification and modernisation of VAT obligations (TAXUD/2001/DE/307)”);
Participation to and role in international assignments/projects (a.o. several assignments in Malta – esp. on-site technical assistance to the Maltese VAT Department and training – and in Romania).
He has a Master Degree (distinction) obtained at the Catholic University of Louvain (KU Leuven) (1990). Jean-Marc also graduated with great distinction in Fiscal Sciences - Fiscal High School (Fiscale Hogeschool), Brussels (1991) and obtained Postgraduate certificates in Business Economics - Flemish Economic High School (VLEKHO), Brussels (1991).
Jean-Marc is qualified as a Chartered Tax Consultant since September 2000 (Belgian Institute of Chartered Accountants and Tax Counsellors (IAB/IEC). He is fluent in Dutch, English, French, with passive knowledge of German and Romanian.
