Ljubljana, 2 April 2020. At EY Slovenia, we realize that the most important thing during the COVID-19 epidemic is to strengthen our communities. We have responded to the needs expressed by the government and the public and donated 100 laptops to support the children from disadvantaged families during this time when all learning must be done digitally.

We have donated 100 gently used Lenovo ThinkPad laptops in excellent condition with newly installed Windows 10 license, so that the students can jump right into their school work.

Fifty laptops were donated to the Slovenian Friends of Youth Association (ZPMS). The association representative Pika Potočnik explained that the ZPMS as the umbrella association “plays a key role in ensuring the families in need receive all the necessities. In addition to food packets and financial help, many families also need computers which are essential for the schooling of children during this time and which many families cannot provide. Most of the fifty donated computers will be given to the children by the end of this week. We will distribute the computers through our associations in Nova Gorica, Maribor, Šentjut, Novo mesto, Murska Sobota, Metlika, Koper, Velenje, Domžale and Ljubljana.”

The other fifty laptops were donated to the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport. The Ministry representative Janez Čač told us that the Ministry wants to “ensure equal learning condition for all students. The laptops donated by Ernst & Young d.o.o. will be given to students who do not have the necessary equipment to participate in distance learning while the special measures are in force.”
