Extended Assurance

Our Extended Assurance team provide a broad range of business change implementation assistance and business assurance services across the Financial Services industry, delivering insight, problem-solving skills and innovative thinking. We help our clients improve their overall Governance environment and meet regulatory responsibilities through services such as Benchmarking, GIPS, Internal Audit and CASS.

Technology in Extended Assurance

We have a clear view of the digital transformation taking place across the Financial Services industry. We lead our clients through this digital journey to retain competitive advantage, keep on top of industry developments and meet the ever increasing stakeholder expectations.

We have made significant investments in a range of data analytics tools and capabilities including Process Mining, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, and Data Analytics. 

What will you be doing?

  • Working within a team at client sites, EY and remotely you will understand the challenges our clients face and help them to address effectively address them
  • You'll be provided with the structured learning, development and coaching needed to accelerate your career
  • Working with a wide range of clients, across varied levels and industries 
  • Developing an understanding of Risks and Controls and how the management of these are crucial for our clients
  • Providing assurance and advice over many areas of our clients’ businesses including operational and regulatory assurance
  • Gaining a deep understanding of the Financial Services industry, and the regulatory landscape in which our clients operate

    We operate an open access policy, meaning we don’t screen out applications on your academic performance alone. You will, however, need to be working towards an honours degree in any subject, have a minimum of grade 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths, and three A-levels/Five Highers (or equivalent) to be eligible to apply. 

    We welcome applications from all academic backgrounds and are looking for individuals who will succeed at EY in the desired role and future qualifications, therefore throughout our recruitment process your academic performance will be considered against your online assessment scores to determine your suitability for an EY role. This allows us to give you the maximum credit for your achievements, assessing whether you have overachieved in light of your personal circumstances.

Professional qualifications

CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting, an industry-recognised qualification. 

You'll also have access to a broad suite of learning resources to develop your technical and assurance skills, the opportunity to study for additional qualifications, and access to our EY Badges programme which offers structured learning leading to accreditation in a range of subject domains including data visualisation, innovation and blockchain.

Following completion of the programme you have the opportunity to select additional professional qualifications.

How’s it structured?

After an EY induction you’ll join Extended Assurance (EA) within EY’s Financial Services (FS) Practice. We’ll help you build the skills to understand our clients and their business and develop the thinking to find creative and effective insights to solve the challenges they face. You’ll work across a range of industries including banking, capital markets, insurance and wealth and asset management and a variety of Extended Assurance solutions including Internal Audit, Structured Finance, Governance and Controls, Prudential Regulation, Business Conduct and Operational Assurance.

In the first year you’ll get the opportunity to study for a CIMA qualification in accounting, finance and business law, you will also have the opportunity to work across the range of EA’s different solution and industry areas. Throughout the programme you’ll have access to informal training and development resources and our experienced team will also be on hand to support you and guide you through your development. Since no two projects will be the same, we’ll coach and mentor you in a way that will prepare you for anything. By the time you finish this year, you will be an established part of the Extended Assurance team with a solid set of Consulting skills and the experience to support our clients.

In your second year, you'll further develop on the skills you have gained in year 1. You'll have the opportunity to take on greater responsibility and begin to think about the areas of EA where you would like to work on future projects. As we onboard the next graduate intake, you'll be given new responsibilities acting as a mentor and coach for others in the team. By the time you finish, you can expect to be well on your way to becoming a Senior with the opportunity to build a specialism.
