    Technology in Sustainable Finance


    We develop technology and data solutions to enable businesses to make informed decisions and understand their impact. 

    What will you be doing?

    • Supporting the delivery of key projects for our clients on a wide range of sustainability issues.
    • Contribute to commercial insights and thought leadership for our clients.
    • Helping to develop new capabilities in technical areas and apply these to our clients businesses.
    • Building your knowledge in Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG).
    • Working with colleagues outside of Sustainable Finance to deliver multi-disciplinary and cross-geographical work.
    • Studying towards a relevant professional qualification or accreditation.
    • Are you eligible to apply?

      We operate an open access policy, meaning we don’t screen out applications on your academic performance alone. We welcome applications from candidates working towards an honours degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Business, Sustainable Development, Physical Geography or similar. A masters degree in subjects such as Environmental Economics, Sustainable Finance, Sustainable Development and Climate Change would be highly desirable, but is not essential.

      Additionally you should have a minimum of grade 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths, and three A-levels/Five Highers (or equivalent) to be eligible to apply. 

      We welcome applications from all academic backgrounds and are looking for individuals who will succeed at EY in the desired role and future qualifications, therefore throughout our recruitment process your academic performance will be considered against your online assessment scores to determine your suitability for an EY role.     Professional qualifications

    Financial Services qualification - we'll discuss options available with successful candidates.

    Programme length

    Two years. However, we'll provide continued support and training to help graduates to complete their professional qualification, which typically takes 3-5 years in total.

    Business skills training

    You'll also have access to a broad suite of learning resources to develop your consulting and technical skills including our EY Badges programme which offers structured learning leading to accreditation in a range of subject domains including Strategy, Climate Change and Sustainability, and Design Thinking.


    Dependent on location, salaries start from £27,600 per year

    How’s it structured?

    The programme lasts two years and will provide you with a variety of experiences and learning opportunities to support your development. You will develop the skills to decipher how each client problem is different and to find innovative ways of solving them. You will be part of a large graduate community and diverse multi-disciplinary team, which is a great opportunity to build your network and develop your leadership skills. 

    By the time you finish, you can expect to be well on your way to becoming a Senior Consultant with the opportunity to build a specialism in your preferred area.

    What type of work will I be doing?

    As a member of our Sustainable Finance team you will be working on leading projects, consulting on key strategic issues in sustainable finance and participating in research. The projects will be wide ranging and span right across Banking, Insurance, Pensions and Wealth & Asset Management. Topics include:

      • Sustainable Finance strategy 
      • Principles of responsible banking, responsible investment and sustainable insurance
      • Climate change metrics and targets
      • Investment advisory, including climate alignment
      • Sustainable Finance regulatory developments and associated lobbying
      • Responsible, sustainable and impact investment
      • ESG research and ESG integration
      • Climate change risk modelling and scenario analysis 
      • Reporting and disclosure - including Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)
      • Measuring and reporting on long-term value
      • Sustainable development goals
      • Stewardship and engagement (active ownership)
      • Net zero
