I chose EY because of the learning and development opportunities, exposure to a huge variety of high profile clients, and to be challenged. The team’s commitment to coaching has been invaluable.

Transaction Diligence Graduate

Transaction Diligence

When corporations or private equity clients prepare to do big deals, they need to know there won’t be any surprises. Whether a company is selling a part of or all its business or acquiring a new business, our team specialises in financial due diligence – assessing risks and opportunities – and reporting on these to our clients, their banks, investors and others. In UK & Ireland, we work across a wide range of sectors, including Retail, Energy & Infrastructure, Technology Media and Telecom, Life Sciences and Advanced Manufacturing & Mobility. In Financial Services, you'll get the opportunity to specialise with our Financial Services clients, including FinTech.

Technology in Transaction Diligence

Using technology and analytics is fundamental to what we do. We have innovative Analytics capabilities; we use Alteryx and PowerBI to analyse large datasets to obtain data insights for our clients, adding value to the deals we work on.

The Deal Analytics team within Transaction Diligence is growing. We are disrupting the traditional financial due diligence model through our use of data analytics, innovation and advanced technology tools – helping our clients through the process of acquiring or divesting assets to meet their strategic goals.

Once you join, your time will be split between deal analytics projects, and practice development and core transaction diligence projects to ensure a broad range of experience.

What will you be doing?

  • Working in UK & Ireland (UK&I) or Financial Services (FS) to analyse financial information, identify key trends and develop an in-depth understanding of the mechanics of each business
  • Communicating with client or target management to understand deal issues
  • Working in project teams, to produce reports summarising the key findings of our financial due diligence
  • Studying for the ICAS Chartered Accountancy qualification
  • In FS, you'll also spend time in Assurance, gaining valuable accounting experience
    • Are you eligible to apply?

We operate an open access policy, meaning we don’t screen out applications on your academic performance alone. You will, however, need to be working towards an honours degree in any subject, have a minimum of grade 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths, and three A-levels/Five Highers (or equivalent) to be eligible to apply.

We welcome applications from all academic backgrounds and are looking for individuals who will succeed at EY in the desired role and future qualifications, therefore throughout our recruitment process your academic performance will be considered against your online assessment scores to determine your suitability for an EY role. We are also proud to partner with RARE recruitment, so that your application can be processed in the context of your socio-economic background. This allows us to give you the maximum credit for your achievements, assessing whether you have overachieved in light of your personal circumstances.

    How’s it structured?

Once you join this programme, you'll either work in UK&I or FS. Whichever area you join, there are lots of choices for where your career can develop, and you'll be part of a supportive, inclusive team who will give you all the help you need to decide which path is right for you.

First things first, we’ll bring you up-to-speed through a firmwide induction and then you’ll join your team for a specific training induction, where you'll be introduced to transaction fundamentals.

    • In UK&I, you'll work on real client projects across a range of sectors.
    • In FS, you'll also work on real client transactions, and gain valuable accounting experience with time in Assurance.

For both areas, you'll study for a professional qualification with ICAS and develop your analytics and technology skillset and network with our diverse teams.

As you progress through the programme, you’ll take on more responsibilities within your project teams, broadening your transactions knowledge, sector understanding and professional skills.

After three years, you'll have significant transactions experience across a wide variety of UK&I or FS sectors and client types, a strong diverse network and a wealth of client relationship skills - all in addition to becoming a Chartered Accountant.
