    What will you be doing?

    • Working with a variety of clients from start-ups to recognisable financial services organisations
    • Listening to client problems and defining strategies and solutions
    • Developing proposals for EY or our clients
    • Analysing trends in industries like banking, insurance or telecommunications, media and technology
    • You'll also be expected to be flexible and spend large proportions of your time away from your home office
    • Are you eligible to apply?

If you’re in your penultimate year at university and your course includes a placement year, this programme is for you. We operate an open access policy, meaning we don’t screen out applications on your academic performance alone. You will however, need to be working towards an honours degree in any subject, and have a minimum of grade 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths and three A-levels/Five Highers (or equivalent) to be eligible to apply.

We welcome applications from all academic backgrounds and are looking for individuals who will succeed at EY in the desired role and future qualifications, therefore throughout our recruitment process your academic performance will be considered against your online assessment scores to determine your suitability for an EY role. We are also proud to partner with RARE recruitment, so that your application can be processed in the context of your socio-economic background. This allows us to give you the maximum credit for your achievements, assessing whether you have overachieved in light of your personal circumstances.

    How’s it structured?

Over 11 months, you’ll have access to a variety of different experiences and learning opportunities. We'll help you develop the skills to decipher how each client problem is different and to find innovative and sound ways of solving them.

If you join Financial Services (FS) you’ll work on a variety of projects for leading global FS clients and will be encouraged and expected to take responsibility for your projects. During the programme you'll get exposure to a range of sectors across FS including Wealth & Asset Management, Banking & Capital Markets and Insurance.

At the end of the placement, if you’re great at your job, you could be asked to join one of our graduate programmes once you’ve finished university.

What type of work will I be doing?

During your placement in Business Consulting  you may have the opportunity to work across one or more of our competencies:
    • Business Transformation

Business Transformation is a multidisciplinary competency, bringing together our capabilities in project and programme management, transformation architecture, experience design, business design and transformation execution to problem-solve, design and deliver large scale, multi-year, multi-stakeholder transformation programmes. In addition, Business Transformation focuses on operational challenges ranging from optimisation of processes, reducing costs and expenses and target operating model design.

    • Finance

Working with CFOs and finance organisations around the world, we help assess and transform our clients' finance function to improve performance and effectiveness. We provide insights and recommendations on people, processes and systems and then work with our clients to deliver improvements. Our services include management accounting, financial accounting (financial statement close optimisation), and finance transformation (e.g. finance target operating model design).

    • Financial Services Risk

We help clients to identify, manage and monitor the risks in their business. We support companies to respect local and international regulation, to manage large and complex remediation activities and to design processes and procedures to shape an efficient way of governing the company. We offer a broad scope of services tailored to the needs of financial institutions including advice on Financial Crime, Prudential Regulation & Financial Risk and Regulatory Compliance.

    • Supply Chain & Operations

The supply chain of the future is no longer linear, but a networked ecosystem.  In Supply Chain & Operations we help clients effect fundamental change in their operations’ performance to support sales growth, become more cost competitive, minimise risk and ensure operational resilience.
