    Tax Technology and  Transformation

    The world of Financial Services Tax is undergoing a fundamental and long-term evolution as tax authorities globally seek to digitise existing tax regimes. In parallel, they are introducing new, wide ranging, complex and data-intensive tax regulations to: increase tax transparency, drive more efficient compliance & insight & increase tax revenues to fund governmental inititiavtes.

    Technology in Tax TT

    In our Financial Services (FS) Tax Technology and Transformation (TTT) team we help our clients adapt to this rapidly changing tax landscape through:

    • Data strategy - advisising clients on their firm wide data streategy, to enhance their current and future state yax complaince effectiveness
    • Creating scale, control and effieiency for clients by designing and implmenting new operating models for tax & finance that leverage cutting edge technologies
    • Developing and implmenting innovateive technology assets to solve our clients specific tax needs.

    In FS, we work across many sectors including Banking, Capital Markets, Wealth & Asset Management and Insurance.

    Regardless of sector, our work includes a wide range of tax services to clients covering all aspects of operations, technology, software and data consulting.

    What will you be doing?

    • You'll specialise in Tax Technology. This could involve advising our clients directly on how to implement technology and innvoate to address new regulations or business needs. You may equally be working alongside our colleagues outside of TTT to deliver transformation to our clients in other areas of tax (indirect taxes, operational taxes, international taxes etc.)
    • You'll be learning new technical skills such as: project management, analytical skills, data architecute, data management, business analysis skills, operating model design etc.
    • At the same time you will develop and practice soft skills such as: commucination, stakeholder management, written & verbal presentation skills, planning, negotiation & commercial awareness
    • You will build relationships both within the firm and externally with clients, identifying opportunities and growing your network and market presence
    • You will build knowledge and expertise about the financial services industry: its participants, how they opearte and the tax and finance related challenged that they face
    • Are you eligible to apply?

      If you’re in your penultimate year at university, or if you’re already in your final year but will be doing a one-year Master’s degree, or taking a gap year, this internship is for you. We operate an open access policy, meaning we don’t screen out applications on your academic performance alone. You will however, need to be working towards an honours degree in a STEM subject, have a minimum of grade 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths and three A-levels/Five Highers (or equivalent) to be eligible to apply.

      We welcome applications from all academic backgrounds and are looking for individuals who will succeed at EY in the desired role and future qualifications, therefore throughout our recruitment process your academic performance will be considered against your online assessment scores to determine your suitability for an EY role.     Programme length

    Four-week internship. Please note: Due to UK policies, you must be based in the UK for the entire duration of the programme.

    How’s it structured?

    Join the Tax TT Summer Internship and you’ll gain experience in how we apply different technologies across the FS sector.

    Be completely immersed in the world of work at EY. After a company induction, you’ll start developing an understanding of some of these technologies, and soon be ready to work alongside graduates on real client projects:

    • Artificial intelligence and machine learning 
    • Data analytics/visualisation 
    • Agile/Scrum master
    • Solution architecture
    • Operations and program management 
    • Extract, transform, load (ETL) e.g. SQL Server Integration Services, Informatica, Alteryx or similar
    • Data management/governance/architecture
