Chris Sanger, EY’s Head of Tax Policy, comments: “Amongst the 76 measures in the Budget were some to support the local pub – including a £5,000 business rate discount for one year from 6 April 2020.  On top of the discount, there is a freeze in duty for spirits, wine, beer and cider for the next year.

“All good news for those MPs who can wander up Whitehall to the Two Chairman, have a nice cold (duty frozen) pint and contemplate perusing the small print of the 200 page Red Book.”
