Professional services firm Ernst & Young LLP (EY US) announced Alan Garcia as Managing Partner of its Boca Raton office, succeeding Peter Wellman upon his upcoming retirement.

In his new role, Garcia will lead the 190 professionals in the EY US Boca Raton office, where he will be responsible for developing and engaging the firm’s people, creating high-performing teams, driving market leadership across service lines and enhancing the EY brand in Boca Raton.

“The Boca Raton office has worked hard to be recognized as a dedicated resource for all our client’s needs, and we will continue to help them navigate through change,” said Garcia. “Pete has contributed so much not only to our community and professionals in South Florida but to the entire EY organization. I hope to continue his efforts by engaging our people in meaningful ways.”

Wellman served as the Office Managing Partner of the Boca Raton office for the past 5 years and was with the firm for over 30 years. Throughout his time at EY US, Wellman provided services to a number of high-growth public and private clients, focused in the real estate sector, and helped employees understand their roles in achieving the firm’s purpose of building a better working world. In his years as the Boca Raton Office Managing Partner and serving the Florida market, the office continued to grow significantly across all service lines.

“Over the course of his tenure, the firm’s Boca Raton office has maintained a strong and undeniable presence under Pete’s leadership. We wholeheartedly believe Alan will continue Pete’s momentum and will have a positive and significant impact on our clients, the market and our employees,” said Julie Boland, US-Central Region Managing Partner, EY US. “Alan has a passion for our people and their development and has done a remarkable job throughout his career, from leading several audit wins in recent years, to fostering collaboration, teamwork and results across offices, fields and industries.”

Garcia has more than 22 years of experience serving SEC registrants and multinational clients, in addition to 12 years of experience serving software, software-as-a-service (SaaS) and technology clients. He is also the firm’s US-Central Region Technology Media and Telecommunications Assurance Market Segment Leader.

Garcia and his wife Kim have a six-year-old son, George, and live in South Florida. Garcia earned a Bachelor of Administration in Accounting and a Master of Accounting from the University of Miami. He is a certified public accountant licensed in Florida and Georgia and is also a member of the Florida

Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
