André has more than 27 years of experience providing legal advice on complex financial services matters relating to banking and money services business, mutual funds, other investment and securities vehicles, regulation of private funds, trust and corporate services, as well as several complex insurance products. André was also involved in forming the Cayman Islands’ framework for the regulation and supervision of virtual asset service providers.

Before joining the firm, André worked with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA), serving first as Deputy General Counsel and then as Deputy Managing Director and General Counsel. He was a member of CIMA’s Executive Management and the legal advisor to CIMA’s Board of Directors.

Prior to that, he was a high court judge on the Supreme Court of Trinidad and Tobago. André is also a certified mediator, and he occasionally serves as an acting judge of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.

How André is building a better working world

André is a graduate of the United States Army Judge Advocate General (JAG) School. In his free time, he serves as the legal advisor for the Cayman Islands Regiment where he serves as a reservist with the rank of major. André is passionate about community service, especially in times of a natural disaster. He is a veteran of Hurricanes Ivan and Eta.
