EY Indonesia announced the winners of EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2018 in the Awards Ceremony.
Founder & CEO of PT. Haldin Pacific Semesta Alisjahbana Haliman received the award of EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2018. This was revealed in the awards ceremony of the 2018 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award at the Ritz Carlton Hotel Pacific Place Jakarta, Wednesday, November 14, 2018.

After going through a rigorous selection process by a panel of judges, Alisjahbana Haliman won the prestigious EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2018 title from Indonesia by edging out the other 5 finalists, namely:

The main award was announced by the Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Indonesia Prof. Ari Kuncoro along with the chairman of the judging panel Prof. Martiono Hadianto. The award trophy was given by EY Indonesia Country Managing Partner Hari Purwantono.
EY Indonesia Country Managing Partner Hari Purwantono said the 2018 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year award was given to Alisjahbana Haliman after going through competitive and comprehensive assessment . "In the end, he emerged outperforming other finalists who were no less extraordinary, based on six assessment criteria, namely entrepreneurial spirit, value creation, strategic direction, national and / or global impact, innovation, and integrity."

Joining other prominent entrepreneurs from 60 countries around the world, Alisjahbana as Country Winner EOY 2018 will represent Indonesia at 2018 EY World Entrepreneur of the Year at Monaco in June 2019. There Alisjahbana will again compete with other EOY country winners for the EY World award Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Established in 1987, PT. Haldin Pacific Semesta started as an importer of vanilla from Indonesia to the United States. From only vanilla traders, Haldin is now a company that processes various types of natural resources. From only one facility in Cikarang, Haldin has developed into a company with 5 facilities; 4 on Java and 1 in Sumatra, and employs around 500 people. The materials are purchased by companies in 54 countries around the world, and are on the first list of industrial materials suppliers.
Acting as a liaison between farmers and businesses, Haldin processes raw natural resources from farmers and processes them into materials that are ready to be used by businesses that produce end products purchased by end consumers. Haldin supplies ingredients from various industries: tea & coffee, essential oils, cocoa & vanilla, natural sweeteners, fruit & vegetables, seasoning ingredients, cosmetic ingredients and functional ingredients. At present, 60% of Haldin products are exported to 54 countries, of which 40% are sold in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, the title of 2018 Social Entrepreneur of the Year was awarded for Sabrina Bensawan of Saab Shares. Even though she is still 21 years old Sabrina has shown a remarkable and strong social entrepreneurial spirit. Founded in 2014 by Sabrina Bensawan who was 16 years old at the time, assisted by her sister Elena Bensawan, SAAB Shares was based on concerns about the number of children from poor families who did not attend school or suffered from serious illnesses.
Saab Shares has a vision of becoming a social organization that has a positive impact on the lives of the Indonesia people regardless of ethnicity, religion, class, culture, and ethnicity. Currently Saab Shares has three main programs, namely, Education through Rumah Baca and Rumah Belajar; Health program through the provision of free health services; Empowering Women through motivation talks by volunteers who are experts in their fields as well as training such as make-up, cooking, batik, and others.
