Environment sustainability is one of our key focus areas and we continuously provide our people with various opportunities to make a difference to the environment.
Supporting initiatives to improve air-quality in North India
In November 2018, EY Foundation announced its support to an NGO, India Paryavaran Sahayak (IPS) Foundation that is working to educate farmers in Punjab to implement an environment-friendly alternative solution to stubble burning that causes severe air pollution in North India. Watch this video to learn more about EY’s commitment to address air pollution and the various education programs being organized by IPS Foundation in Punjab.
These education programs aim at raising awareness about Happy Seeder and incentivizes farmers to lease the equipment at a subsidised rate. By the end of 2019, this intervention is expected to reach over 25 thousand farmers across 300 villages in Punjab, reduce 300,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions and save 48 billion litres of water.
Our tree planting drives have been held in partnership with NGOs like Pan Himalayan Grassroots Development Foundation (PHGDF) and Srinivasan Services Trust of the TVS group, and Himjoli in Chhatisgarh. The afforestation drives not only involve the local community and encouraging them to maintain the plantations but also prove to be educational for EY people who volunteer for these drives every year.
The plantation drives are one of the many initiatives we undertake towards the goal of achieving Carbon Neutrality. Water management, waste management, responsible recycling and numerous other consumption curbing exercises have become a part of our day-to-day lives.
Today, EY is reducing its environmental impact through small but impactful measures such as water aerators and bio blocks in washrooms. EY offices across the country are saving millions of liters of water through water-conservation systems. Installation of solar panels and smart lighting solutions is further helping save energy at all our locations.
