Welcome to the Banking and Asset Management Club

The EY Banking and Asset Management Club is a discussion platform covering a wide range of subject matters from risk management and regulatory compliance to cybersecurity, operational efficiency or digitalization. Each of the events organized will target key topics or issues that impact and disrupt the day-to-day business of Luxembourg banks, management companies and service providers. Because the issues of yesterday hardly resemble the issues of tomorrow, the Club will bring to you the insights of EY subject matter resources. These insights will try and help you to navigate a changing world where new regulations could be turned into opportunities and operations could be improved through innovative solutions.

PSD2 and Regulatory Technical Standards: a big step towards open banking

On January 13 2018, the Second Payment Services Directive (PSD2) came into effect. One of its objectives is to mandate that banks must make it possible for third party companies to access their bank customer’s payment accounts (with the customer’s consent), to consult them and be able to initiate electronic payments.
Are these regulations creating opportunities leading to increased competition, greater innovation and ultimately a better user experience? By opening up the sector and inviting collaboration between FinTechs and banks, will the payment services industry be able to better support different client segments?
