- Acquisition strengthens EY’s SAP services across Asia Pacific
EY has strengthened its Technology transformation services through the acquisition of one of the largest Australian-owned providers of cloud SAP solutions, Plaut IT, and its Malaysian subsidiary, Baseliner Consulting Sdn. Bhd. (“Baseliner”). The acquisition of Plaut IT expands EY’s technology consultancy capabilities and adds 130 staff to EY’s Technology services, 32 of whom will join the Malaysia EY digital teams from Baseliner.
This is EY’s fourth digital acquisition in seven months and forms part of an ambitious strategic plan to transform how the market views EY’s Technology services.
Dato’ Abdul Rauf Rashid, Malaysia Managing Partner, Ernst & Young said, “This acquisition is in line with the EY implementation and global SAP rollouts in Asean, which is a key part of our IT Advisory strategy to have capability in major regions. It complements the acquisition of Brightree in Malaysia in 2017, and enhances the EY ability to provide a SAP delivery and managed service center of excellence for clients across Asean and Asia Pacific. With this acquisition, EY will be well-positioned to compete in the larger end-to-end SAP sector, and accelerate the digital transformation opportunities available to the business.”
EY Asean Advisory Managing Partner, Chow Sang Hoe said, “EY is committed to accelerating the growth and development of its advisory and consulting capabilities. Our technology transformation business has experienced accelerated year-on-year growth of over 20% in the last 10 years, and our service offerings have continued to expand in response to rising demand for more complementary and commercially-focused digital solutions.”
“Agile business transformation is a key solution and growth driver for EY, and this acquisition further enhances our strong SAP capability. In Malaysia, Baseliner has an excellent reputation for its focus on CRM and its capability to deliver SAP cloud enterprise solutions and on-premise services. EY is excited about the impact in providing end-to-end transformation services to clients with this acquisition,” added Chow.
As part of the acquisition, the Plaut IT business in Australia and Malaysia will be branded EY. Plaut IT Chairman, David Prior will join EY’s Technology services in Sydney, Australia.
Prior said the values of EY, Plaut IT and Baseliner are strongly aligned making the transaction a natural fit. “EY and Plaut IT put people first while also striving to provide continual value to clients. This alignment of values adds to the strength of the combined group.”
“The acquisition provides our team with a well-rounded set of capabilities and skills, and provides the potential for us to work on large scale business transformations. We are excited about the work we will now have the opportunity to participate in,” said Prior.
Plaut IT is a lighthouse partner for SAP’s cloud enterprise resource planning software and its client list includes SCT Logistics, Toyota Motor Corporation Australia, Sanitarium, as well as state and federal government departments.
The Plaut IT team includes nationally recognised functional, information management and business specialists, as well as a number of fully qualified CPAs and highly experienced engineering, operations and HR professionals.
EY’s other acquisitions in the last seven months include Adelphi Digital Consulting Group in November, Xynapse Sdn Bhd and Xynapse Asia Sdn Bhd in September, and Articulate Consulting in July.
