    The winner of the title, EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2017 for the Slovak Republic, is Michal Weis from the company IBL Software Engineering, spol. s r.o. The prestigious award, founded by EY and organized annually worldwide, was presented by Matej Bošňák, Country Managing Partner of EY Slovakia, at a gala ceremony held in the historic building of the National Council of the Slovak Republic. The EY Technology Entrepreneur Of The Year 2017 title was won by Lívia Naništová, co-founder of Novplasta, s.r.o. The EY Emerging Entrepreneur Of The Year 2017 title was awarded to Lucia Čierna, Barbora Bilčíková and Petra Bilčíková, founders of Fertucha, s. r. o. The patron of the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2017 contest is the President of the Slovak Republic.

  • EY M&A Barometer: The downward trend in the number of deals in CSE continued in H1 2017; however, this had no impact on the estimated value of closed deals

    In H1 2017, the Slovak M&A market experienced a year-on-year decline in the number of deals by almost 35%. However, the situation in the Central and Southeast Europe (CSE) region was similar, with almost 28% fewer deals; albeit their volume increased considerably, by 42%, reaching nearly US$20bn. The CSE market was dominated by transactions in the areas of commercial real-estate, manufacturing and IT. The most active country was the neighboring Czech Republic, in the number of deals as well as their volume.

    For the 12th time, EY is looking for an Entrepreneur Of The Year to represent the Slovak Republic at the prestigious world finals in Monte Carlo. In addition to great business metrics, the judging panel will be particularly keen to see an extraordinary entrepreneurial story. The nominated entrepreneurs will compete in three categories: EY Entrepreneur Of The Year in the Slovak Republic, EY Technology Entrepreneur Of The Year and EY Emerging Entrepreneur Of The Year. Nominations are now open until the deadline of 30 November 2017. The EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2017 contest has the patronage of the President of the Slovak Republic.

  • EY in Slovakia has three new partners

    The advisory firm EY in Slovakia has appointed Peter Borák as a new partner. He will lead the Risk Transformation division in the Bratislava office, which represents a significant development for the company. Another important step which EY has undertaken is to appoint two additional partners on promotion – Peter Málik and Róbert Kováčik.

  • EY Fraud Survey finds senior managers failing to set right tone on business ethics

    According to the latest biennial EY EMEIA Fraud Survey, there has been only sporadic progress made in tackling bribery and corruption across Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa. The survey of 4,100 respondents from 41 countries shows that more than half (51%) still perceive corruption in their country as a problem. As many as 81% of Slovak respondents think that corrupt practices happen widely in business in Slovakia, which is the fourth worst result of all participating countries. Twenty-seven percent of all respondents even stated that it is common practice in their business sector to use bribery to win contracts. A much lower, but still significant 14% of respondents in Western Europe cited this practice.

  • EY M&A Barometer: In 2016 Slovakia saw a decline in the number of deals, copying the prevailing trend in the region

    According to the CSE M&A Barometer prepared by EY, 2016 was slightly weaker than the previous year in terms of the number of M&A transactions in the Central and South Eastern European (CSE) region. Overall, 1,165 transactions were completed in the CSE region, representing a 9% decrease, year-on-year. The Czech Republic was the most active country in terms of deal volume, followed by Turkey and Poland. The IT sector was the most active target industry in the CSE region for a third consecutive year.

The EY Technology Entrepreneur Of The Year 2016 title was won by Ján Lunter, co-founder of Innovatrics, s.r.o., who also received the special prize for the most inspiring business story, awarded by the monthly magazine Profit. The EY Emerging Entrepreneur Of The Year 2016 title was awarded to Martin Adámek, Daniel Novák and Jozef Šimko, owners of Inloop, s.r.o. The patron of the EY Entrepreneur Of the Year 2016 contest is the President of the Slovak Republic.
