EY Foundation delivers programmes and interventions to support social enterprises to scale sustainably. We can also help more young people reach their potential by working with social entrepreneurs, and those young people might one day run their own social enterprise, or be supported by one.
We deliver a 12 month business support programme called Accelerate, and collaborate with other social enterprises to deliver entrepreneur bootcamps and workshops. If you are interested in collaborating please get in touch now.
Accelerate programme runs across London, the North West, Yorkshire, Scotland and the Thames Valley region and provides established social enterprises with:
Business coaching is designed to offer practical guidance and advice with the overall goal to help entrepreneurs grow their enterprise and increase their social impact.
Entrepreneurs are invited to attend a series of tailored workshops and webinars targeted at improving performance, strategy and planning.
Starting with the launch event and culminating in an end of year celebration, networking events are designed to connect entrepreneurs with other entrepreneurs, business leaders, and contacts from across the EY Foundation network.
There will be opportunities to access business expertise from EY and other parties. Entrepreneurs may need to pitch against other participants to access this resource.
Have fun, do business for good and then make money. Profit is key to running a successful business, even for social entrepreneurs; it creates sustainable impact.”
Nathaniel Peat, social entrepreneur and EY Foundation patron

Business performance and operational efficiency
One of the biggest challenges for entrepreneurs is business experience. Accelerate is designed to help social entrepreneurs address business performance and operational efficiency – two of the most pressing issues they face.
Access for the whole enterprise
We know that in order to be a success social entrepreneurs need good teams around them. In recognition of this, anyone employed by the social enterprises on the Accelerate programme is eligible to attend our events and workshops, bringing what they have learnt back into the business to support growth and development.
The EY Foundation has an extensive network of contacts across the UK, giving Accelerate members great access to business experts and influencers.
Working in a dynamic growing enterprise means time is often a barrier to progress. Accelerate provides the opportunity to secure a business expert from the EY Foundation’s network to help tackle a particular issue or growth area, delivering hands-on support where it’s needed.

Want to volunteer?
The Accelerate programme works with business coaches to make it a success.
A business coach meets their entrepreneur once a month, providing practical support and advice, mostly around financial and business planning. We anticipate 2 hours a month of contact time, with some ad hoc phone and email activity.
What is coaching?
Business coaches provide positive feedback and advice on an individual or group basis to improve personal effectiveness in business.
Coaches help their clients advance towards specific professional goals, which can include performance management, business growth, interpersonal and professional communication, organisational effectiveness, managing career and personal changes, developing executive presence, enhancing strategic thinking, and building an effective team.
