  • Share

Our latest issue of the IPO Eye reveals that the largest IPO listing of 2018 in the final quarter wasn’t enough to overcome a fall in London IPO activity as companies weighed up Brexit uncertainty.

Key highlights include:

  • 79 IPOs listing in London raised £9.5bn in 2018 – down from the 95 IPOs in 2017 that raised £12.4bn
  • The Main Market saw 44 listings while AIM saw 35 admissions
  • The highest number of quarterly Main Market listings since 2014 indicates companies may have accelerated timetables to avoid expected Q1 2019 volatility
  • By sector, financial services led the way in 2018, with a 53% share of UK IPOs
  • IPO activity in Q1 2019 is expected to be more subdued than normal as companies mull the outcome of Brexit negotiations and an apparent deceleration in global growth
