Working with organisations to reduce the cost of control through use of technology and innovative Line of Defence models
Despite significant technology investment, the cost of controls continues to increase, with many organisations struggling to reap the benefits of their outlay.
We help our clients address this challenge by making the best use of digital and technology, for example:
- By driving automation within ERP systems
- Deploying market-leading governance risk compliance and robotics technology
- Innovating the defined Line of Defense (LoD) model with more centralisation, augmentation with robotics software and outsourcing and/or providing ‘as a service’.
Our knowledge and tools allow organisations to quickly identify and respond to issues, increase confidence and typically reduce control costs by 20—30%.
Controls and access maturity benchmarking
Helping organisations assess maturity of controls, access management processes and three lines of defence controls operating model.
Technology-enabled controls transformation
Working with organisations to design and implement a simplified, standardised automated controls framework (either embedded within a major transformation programme or a stand-alone controls transformation) and improvements in the three lines of defence controls operating model.
Access controls implementation
Designing and implementing a compliant and sustainable access management process (includes tailored segregation of duties framework, optimal security and role design, compliant and automated user provisioning process and optimal emergency access management process).
Digital risk technology selection and implementation
Helping organisations select, implement and exploit disruptive risk technology solutions to manage governance, risk and compliance management. We work with organisations to exploit the opportunities of using agile and disruptive technologies such as robotics and artificial intelligence to increase levels of automation and reduce cost of controls and assurance.
Intelligent controls automation for major telecommunications provider
We helped this telecommunications provider sweat their investment in SAP which is a £1bn asset for them. We undertook a six week controls automation diagnostic to answer the question around the level of automation activated in their SAP environment.
Post the diagnostic, we helped them design and implement a highly simplified and automated controls framework enabling them to increase the level of controls automation from 5% to 40%. In parallel we also worked with them to implement SAP GRC Process Control to put in place a continuous controls monitoring platform that allowed them to get real-time insight into control break-down/exceptions. This resulted in upwards of 10% reduction in their overall cost of controls and assurance.
Technology enabled controls transformation for a major consumer goods company
We are helping this consumer goods company design, implement and deploy an automated controls framework to increase the level of controls automation as part of their £100mn+ SAP business transformation.
As part of this initiative we are working to develop a simplified and automated controls framework, redesign security model, define a future second line operating model which is technology enabled and implement disruptive technology solutions such as SAP GRC for access and controls monitoring. This initiative will help them achieve upwards of 50% controls automation, reduce their cost of controls by 20%, significantly increase the level of reliance by their newly appointed external auditors and protect the value from investment made in SAP, Ariba and SAP HANA.
