Thames Valley and South
The best performing organisations are clear about their sense of purpose. It defines who they are, why they exist, and energises people by giving meaning to the things they set out to do daily.
EY is committed to its purpose of Building a Better Working World. Through this, we create confidence for stakeholders and the capital markets, helping our clients drive sustainable growth the world over. Across the Thames Valley and South, we are focused not only on our clients’ success, but also helping to identify and address the factors – such as talent, infrastructure, investment and enterprise – that will enable economic prosperity for the whole region.
We employ over 700 people in our Reading and Southampton offices serving a range of clients from academic incubators and fast-growth entrepreneurs through to multinational corporations. We have developed particular experience in technology, life sciences and advanced engineering – sectors prominent across, and critical to, the Thames Valley region’s and the UK’s future success.
Rebalancing the economy
EY’s Economics for Business programme supports the region’s changing economic landscape
Two decades of working alongside the UK’s fastest growing companies means we can help businesses accelerate growth
Where will your growth journey take you next?
Rebalancing the economy
Our Economics for Business programme provides knowledge, analysis and insights to help businesses understand the economic environment they operate in. This includes our 25 year plus sponsorship of the EY ITEM Club – the only non-governmental economic forecasting group to use HM Treasury’s model of the UK economy, independent of any political, economic or business bias.
For the past 30 years, the Thames Valley has been one of the UK’s most successful regional economies and has a unique chance to help the UK reshape its global trading position by capitalising on the success of its burgeoning sectors like technology, life sciences and advanced engineering and the opportunities afforded by the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
By focusing on regional economic growth through the Economics for Business studies, we continue to support communities and businesses across the Thames Valley and South.
Our Regional Economic Forecast has found that UK growth is set to be more geographically balanced over the next three years, but there has been little progress towards reducing imbalances.
Our 2019 survey finds the UK remained the number one FDI destination in Europe in 2018, but saw a 13% drop in projects and a decline in investor sentiment.
Trends in foreign direct investment in the UK’s towns
Our October 2019 special report shows the UK's largest cities attracting an ever-greater share of inward investment with little sign of spillover benefit for their surrounding areas.
We have been examining the Thames Valley’s long-running success and identifying key priorities to help it achieve its potential given current unprecedented levels of political, social and economic disruption. This, coupled with increasing competition, rising housing costs and growing transport congestion means the Thames Valley is facing considerable challenges to its future success.
There is a clear need for the region to maintain its focus on economic growth and the prosperity of its business and communities. This report has been created as a framework to aid that focus and promote greater discussion.
We have a 30 year plus track record working with the world’s fastest growing companies. We have the experience, authority and know-how to help new and scaling businesses navigate their dynamic and increasingly uncertain environments, adapting to, and capitalising upon, the disruptive opportunities presented by digital, accelerating growth.
Entrepreneur Of The Year
We’re continuing to expand our links with businesses across the region through our Entrepreneur Of The Year programme which showcases and celebrates the achievements of those building and leading successful, growing and dynamic businesses. Now in its 20th successive year running in more than 145 cities in over 60 countries worldwide, the programme recognises the spirit and contribution of exceptional entrepreneurs.

EY Growth Navigator™
We have distilled this experience into EY Growth Navigator™, developed to facilitate interactive discussions around the theme of growth. Growth Navigator™ is a unique, interactive experience that enables you, and your leadership team, to assess your company’s capability to deliver growth plans. It uses EY’s 7 Drivers of Growth – the product of years of working with hundreds of the most dynamic companies and growth leaders.
We are connected to a series of start and scale-up ecosystems across the region, including the ongoing Connect TVT programme and their annual Game Changers series. This connectivity helps accelerate both our own innovation agenda and those of our larger clients by connecting them to new and increasingly disruptive ideas at source.
