US Health practice leaders to discuss integrated solutions in smart growth, consumerism, technology, cost optimization and regulatory excellence at HFMA’s ANI Conference
Ernst & Young LLP will discuss the future of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and health care paradigms during the 2017 Healthcare Financial Management Association’s Annual National Institute (ANI) Conference in Orlando, Fla. June 25 - 28. Jacques Mulder, the firm’s US Health Leader, and Carole Faig, the firm’s US Health Deputy Leader, will lead discussions at the EY Executive Destination Lounge based on EY’s experience in smart growth, consumerism, technology, cost optimization and regulatory excellence.
“Health systems and payers are under increasing pressures to provide greater value in the midst of continuously mounting patient volumes,” said Mulder. “This new ‘volume PLUS value’ paradigm requires new approaches to deliver more value and better outcomes to ever-growing populations who have greater chronic health concerns. Our practice’s approach to health embraces this new reality by empowering our clients with integrated solutions that transcend short-term rhetoric and address preventative care and the upside of aging.”
The Ernst & Young LLP Health practice provides clients with strategic counsel on how to better understand their purpose and seek opportunities that will help them grow, especially as other providers seek to compete for scale and unlock their pricing power.
“Acquisitions will continue as a major tool to achieve scale in health,” said Mulder. “To succeed in a volume plus value market, the challenge is to capture the cost savings across the new, combined organizations. Over the long-term, realizing those savings requires time and dedication to the process and will become much more important than the price paid for the acquisition. EY has proven methodologies and experience capturing synergies.”
In addition to guiding clients through understanding and implementing new technologies, consumer-focused practices, and cost optimization strategies, The Ernst & Young LLP Health practice also provides counsel on the turbulent regulatory environment currently disrupting the health care industry.
“The cost of regulatory compliance is high, but non-compliance is significantly higher,” said Faig. “Our Health practice draws upon EY’s valuable resources like the Ernst & Young Washington Council, which tracks policy changes on a minute-by-minute basis, helping clients to understand how regulatory changes may affect them now and in the future.”
Mulder and Faig will participate in a conference session to address value-based partnerships in health care on Sunday, June 25 at the EY-sponsored Executive Destination Lounge. Faig will also co-host open conversations in the “Solution Room” at the lounge, on topics such as “The Future of ACA: Implications for providers, payers, investors, and employers” and “Business strategies for success in a value-based world.” The open conversations will take place Monday, June 26 from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. and Tuesday, June 27 from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1- 2 p.m.
