EY announces that UMT Consulting Group LLC, an enterprise project portfolio management firm, has joined Ernst & Young LLP in the U.S. UMT Consulting Group is best known for providing business process and technology consulting services to large corporations and government entities.

Carmine Di Sibio, EY Global managing partner – client service, said:

“EY is committed to investing in new, innovative services. This deal, which takes place at the intersection of strategy and program management, will enable us to help our clients respond to a changing world.  UMT Consulting’s methods are a natural fit with EY’s existing resources, and the talent we are bringing into the organization is second to none.

“With many global enterprises grappling with the challenge of getting a handle on disparate projects that are coming in both over time and over budget, this addition can enhance EY’s ability to deliver business transformation and portfolio management services by leveraging UMT Consulting’s proprietary methods,” he said.

Gil Makleff, former chief executive officer, UMT Consulting, said:

“One of the biggest hurdles a company can face is being able to understand where major spend across multiple projects is going and whether it is being implemented the right way – this is at the heart of Project Portfolio Management of UMT Consulting. We're looking forward to joining EY and introducing our offerings to its clients.”

The deal also gives EY a unique opportunity to address its services which include acceleration into capital-intensive programs, capability enhancement, and intellectual property for EY’s global strategic alliance with Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT).

Deal complements EY’s strategic relationship with Microsoft

The pairing of UMT Consulting with EY will:

  • Combine  UMT Consulting’s deep experience in implementing Microsoft’s project and portfolio management (PPM) solutions with EY’s Microsoft-based platform for driving program and portfolio performance (PPC – Program Performance Center), thereby supporting clients’ strategic improvement of their portfolios and the execution of programs to realize business benefits;
  • Draw upon the strong, established relationships EY and UMT Consulting have with Microsoft’s sales teams across its regions, as well as EY’s strategic and executive alignment to help clients with their digital transformation; and

Leverage the extensive current account coverage and power of C-suite relationships across the two organizations to provide end-to-end PPM services.

EY announced a strategic business relationship with Microsoft in May 2015 to deliver new and innovative services through their respective digital-age strengths to companies around the world.

Kevin Turner, chief operating officer, Microsoft, said:

“We see the joining of UMT Consulting and EY as a win for the industry. This pairing will enhance the potential of our alliance given the new capabilities this will give EY in the Microsoft project space.”
