Gim Choo is the Founder and Group Managing Director of EtonHouse International Education Group, an education group that runs preschools and international K-12 schools, offering high-quality education.
Growing its footprint to 12 countries, EtonHouse aims to shape the future through education. Carefully developing its curriculum, EtonHouse has strived hard to lead rather than follow education systems that skew toward grades and tests.
When Gim Choo was living in the UK, she experienced firsthand how her children were happy, engaged and stimulated at school. And so motivated to start a similar enriching educational environment that focused on the child's interests and competencies, and inspired by her grandmother, an entrepreneur, Gim Choo entered the education sector — founding EtonHouse in 1995.
Prior to setting up EtonHouse, Gim Choo worked as an audit manager at EY and as a partner in an audit firm. She provides strategic leadership and successfully spearheaded the expansion of EtonHouse across Asia. Her accomplishments include EY Entrepreneur Of The Year award (2019) in the Education category, the Honorary Citizen of Suzhou award (2011) for her contributions to the local community and the Jiangsu Friendship Award (2011) for her remarkable contribution to the economic and social development of the province. In 2009, Gim Choo became the first Singaporean woman to receive the Freedom of the City of London, one of the oldest awards in the UK, for her contribution to international education.
EtonHouse has had several achievements along the way, including Singapore Quality Class (SQC) accreditation (2020), the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) Community Cares Award won by EtonHouse Community Fund Limited and being part of the Scale-up SG initiative by Enterprise Singapore (ESG).
