Paul Murphy

EY Oceania Strategy and Transactions — Capital Markets, Built Environment and Resources Leader

Paul currently leads the Strategy and Transactions (SaT) Capital Markets and Built Environment and Resources (mining, metals, power, utilities, oil, gas, energy transition) team in Oceania. In his former role as EY Asia-Pacific Sell and Separate Leader, Paul has supported many of the key divestitures for EY Asia-Pacific client base with a specific focus on best practice divestment for large corporations across industries through carve-out, spin-out, strategic sale or IPO.

Having worked across a broad spectrum of industries, including private equity, telecommunications, food and beverages, mining and metals, power and utilities, and banking and finance, he has helped drive the industry specialization of EY SaT professionals.

Prior to leading the Sell and Separate team in Asia-Pacific, Paul led the Eastern European Transaction Diligence team in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS, formerly USSR). He facilitated capital investment into Eastern Europe, participating in the recapitalization of the Russian Federation as well as access to global capital markets (London Stock Exchange, Australian Securities Exchange, global depositary receipts) for domestic corporates across the region.

A Chartered Accountant, he earned a BCom in Economics and Commerce from the University of Melbourne and a graduate Diploma in Applied Finance from the Securities Institute of Australia.
