Barend is EY Global Long-term value Methodology Leader and an Assurance Partner with Ernst & Young – United Kingdom. He has over 20 years of experience advising companies on measuring, managing and communicating the impact and long term value they create for investors and other stakeholder groups.

In addition to his client work, he is a member of the EY teams working with the World Economic Forum, the Coalition for Inclusive Capitalism and other membership organisations and initiatives to encourage, measure and demonstrate long term value creation.

Barend has authored several publications and was a part-time visiting fellow at the Yale School of Management from 2016 to 2017. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences from the Eindhoven University of Technology.

How Barend is building a better working world

“It has been exciting to be part of the Embankment Project for Inclusive Capitalism, a unique market-led proof of concept led by the Coalition for Inclusive Capitalism. This framework is helping companies to better measure and communicate their long term value creating potential to investors and other stakeholders.More recently with the WEF’s International Business Council (IBC), a group of more than 140 CEOs, he collaborated with the other Big Four accounting firms on a project to propose a core set of metrics that help companies demonstrate their long term value and societal impact.”
