EY Luxembourg is pleased to announce the nomination of Romain Swertvaeger, Partner, as Head of Fintech.

As financial services are changing in line with technological developments, regulatory changes, as well as the entry of new players on the market and rising client expectations, both the banking and fintech industries are increasingly collaborating to develop new products and services for their customers.

With the belief that digital, ecosystem-enabled banking transformation is the way forward and relying on a deep knowledge of both industries, EY announced the merge of its teams dedicated to Banking and Fintech this past February.

Taking over from Gaël Denis who has been appointed Chief Operational Officer of the firm, Romain Swertvaeger will be leading the Fintech practice, providing a wide range of services to clients – from digital transformation, process management, regulatory compliance and audit, fundraising and valuation support, to tax services and technology risk management.  He will bring his expertise from the Technology Sector to accelerate digital and technological transformations along with a multidisciplinary team of 45 talents, experts of the industry.

Romain, Partner, has 13 years of experience in auditing companies in the technology and e-commerce industries. He played a major role in the development of the Fintech practice, embracing the transformation of e-commerce and e-payment activities within EY’s Technology, Media and Telecommunications department. During the past years, he specialized in payments, cryptocurrencies and blockchain.

Romain Swertvaeger comments: “While banks are increasingly using and integrating development and service solutions offered by fintechs, fintechs are reinventing financial services through innovative digital solutions, expanding their value chain continuously. By bringing together the expertise from the mostly data-driven technology sector and the more regulatory-driven banking sector, our teams are creating the digital future of financial services, together with innovators, institutions and investors.”
