Malaysia Budget 2022 was announced on 29 October 2021 with the objective to deliver a balanced set of measures to strengthen the country’s recovery, build resilience and drive reforms.

Themed “Keluarga Malaysia, Makmur Sejahtera”, Malaysia Budget 2022 was announced on 29 October 2021 with the objective to deliver a balanced set of measures to strengthen the country’s recovery, build resilience and drive reforms.

In conjunction with the Budget announcement, EY organized a the Malaysia Budget 2022 webinar on 12 November 2021 featuring EY tax leaders and guest speakers including Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican, National Budget Director, Ministry of Finance; Dato’ Sri Abdul Latif bin Abdul Kadir, Director General, Royal Customs Department; and Puan Hairaneey binti Mhd, Director, Transfer Pricing Policy Division, Department of International Taxation, Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri Malaysia.The webinar aimed to share the highlights from Budget 2022, its impact on businesses and investors as well as recent trends and tax developments.

EY also organized other Budget-related events including such as the Japan Business Services Malaysia Budget webinar with the Japan embassy; a C-suite roundtable event at St Regis Kuala Lumpur; and shared on the “Recent trends and tax developments in Malaysia” with the EY Korean Business Network.

Additionally, EY tax leaders were invited to speak at several Budget 2022 webinars organized by other organizations and associations including the American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM), Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia (ICDM), InvestKL, Malaysian German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MGCC) and the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce Berhad (BMCC) in collaboration with the Malaysian French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFM).
