Dato' Seri Chew Weng Khak

The Pensonic Group was founded in 1965 as Keat Radio and Electrical Co. in Balik Pulau, Penang by Dato' Seri Chew Weng Khak. From its humble origin as a small retailer cum workshop for electrical home appliances, Keat Radio and Electrical Co. grew into the present day conglomerate under the leadership of Dato' Seri Chew.

The Pensonic Group began importing and assembling the first batch of audio and visual products in 1982 under the Pensonic brand name, which was coined by Dato' Seri Chew, by joining the two words "Penang" and "sonic", symbolising the "Sound of Penang". Pensonic was registered as a trademark in Malaysia in 1984 and is now registered in more than 20 countries, thus laying the foundation for global expansion.

In 1988, the Pensonic Group commenced the manufacturing and marketing of electrical home appliances under the Pensonic brand. Henceforth, this Malaysian-owned, grown and operated brand made its mark in history as the producer of the nation's first "Made in Malaysia" electrical home appliances - taking its place among established brands from Japan, Europe and the United States. Pensonic is currently the leading local brand in electrical home appliances, with a domestic distribution network of 10 branches and more than 900 dealers countrywide.
